997.2 sound so unimpressive

I guess then that Porsche's target market must be juveniles thus the addition of the symposer in the 991. Don't worry though The Ford Focus ST also has a sound symposer.
Let's face it: the addition of the symposer is an acknowledgement by Porsche of just how lame the 911s engine and exhaust music is.

When I said "... I rather have a stealthy understated performance car idling at a red light than a juvenile loud wannabe, doing 30MPH in bumper-to-bumper traffic..." I was referring to loud after-market exhausts, not the PSE and even less the Symposer. The PSE is not obnoxious or juvenile and I have nothing against it. Personally I do not have PSE as I still prefer being stealthy.
My comment about the Symposer had nothing to do with loudness. The Symposer pipes external sound sinto the cabin. I mentioned it when saying that to hear the engine music in cars without the piped-in sound it is a good idea to open the window... I also said that piped-in acoustics trigger a psycho acoustic feeling of performance that is not really there, and hinted that some have reported being tired of it over time. And you are correct, other car lines are introducing the same feature (e.g., VW's Soundaktor), because it's easy to simulate virtual performance.

Great point, there was a post sometime back, there WAS a design change in intake that changed the sound, if you search enough you'll see that there was a part update that changed the intake/exhaust sound, that might help.

I share your disappointment. I've had mine for a week. It's a great car, but Porsche obviously don't care much about the acoustics. I drove an Audi RS4 with Xpipe until now, and it sounds dilicious. But the exhaust is in the end irrelevant, and most of it is show. This is not a farting game. You are eating those Mustangs alive.
I am planning on getting the Fister modification that most people seem to like. But even then, a flat six will never sound like a V8. It can't. Be glad you don't have a Turbo. They sound like a vacuum cleaner...

Lol! It could be ALOT worse, you could have a V10 & have it sound like a UPS Truck (Lol) thats a very common comparison to a stock oem Gen. II Viper! A V10 is kinda sorta like the V6 in that it will NEVER sound as good as a good V8 motor (but then again it all depends on what kind of a purrrrr you like), it is what it is! But, running with them is a whole nuther' story! jmo!

You're right 702 but they're few & far between! But, I was mostly talking about the lope in one say at a redlight or standing still not when you're winding it out!
