That makes sense on an '05 car. Porsche had issued a TSB in '07 for the shift cables... which had higher failure rates. I had considered preemptively replacing my cables during the SSK install but my Porsche SA(former tech) indicated that my car already had the newer cables so no need... of course, that may not matter if rust was involved.
