Default TPMS

trying to find out, a friend has a set of sensors from a 991, i just bought the wheels and would like to have the feature work, but not at the cost of 500€...i can have the 991 set but if they are not compatible, whats the point... its also easy enough to just check the air with a hand held, which i keep in the car anyway, oh, i have the system on my .1 2S, bj2008, appreciate any insight and suggestions, tia, kevin

The sure way to find out if they will work is to ask your OPC for the TPMS part number associated with your VIN and then compare that part number to the 991 part number. There have been enough changes between 997.1, 997.2 and now I imagine the 991 that I doubt they are compatible...but just conjecture on my part.

I went from a 2007 Audi TT to a 2008 Audi S4. I had to change the sensors because these two models operated on different frequencies. Naturally, I would suspect they had different part numbers. A part number check is probably your best bet. All sensors have the same shape, but may operate on different frequencies.

I would bet you that they will not work. Porsche changed frequencies for better fidelity between the 997.1 cars and the 997.2 cars and my guess is that the 991 carries the 997.2 parts. They won't be backwards compatible. Just buy a set of TPMS senders from Sunset or Suncoast Porsche and be done with it.

Damon, do you carry sensors specific to our various models and VIN#? Just curious as my TPMS sensors are at 4 yrs+ and I will likely need some in the near future. TIA
