I had my car for 4 1/2 yrs now and for last 28K miles, I've never had to add oil between oil changes. I usually check oil level once a month or so to be sure. One quart per 1000 miles seems like a lot but hey, your car is going strong after 70K miles and I guess it's nothing to worry about.

It is burned, along with the gasoline.

Great posts in this thread! The burning oil of certain cars is an enigma--very interesting!

Great car Dan and congrats on 75k. Don't think we'll see you at the dealership in line for a 991 anytime soon but what about the new Boxster or Cayman? Would you add one of those to the mix IF you had the chance and/or space? I know if you got rid of the 997 you'd be crazy! lol

Enjoy her in good health man!

I just went over 70k on my 2007 Targa 4 the other day. I too agree it's hard to believe i've put so many miles on my car since it spends Dec-Mar in the garage. I did the 60k service at 68k (better late than never). The car burns no oil. I usually change it every 7500 miles. My only failure was the water pump pully at 66k. Other than tha, I'm 100% satisfied with my car.
