Dan, didn't you also modify/add a type of bracket system for the front license plate in order to avoid drilling holes in the bumper? Crap, how embarrassing for me if I know your mods as well as you do! (Of course that might not be too bad considering my car is, interior options aside, the NorCal version of yours in hardtop form.)

Great report Dan, one of the true enthusiasts that uses the car as its meant!
Questio on adding oil every 1,000 miles... when did it start? Mine is an '07, and I barely add any oil between oil changes and that includes tracking sessions in-between.

My '06 has been fantastic. Two mods: Smartop and a Pioneer head unit that gave me a telephone connection and Sirius. Other than being somewhat oil thirsty, no major issues. Oh, my old dealership (Rockville P-A, the idiots) ruined my rag top and had to replace it. Run summers and winters so some extra rubber expense. Love this car!

Wow, congratulations. Obviously no garage queens allowed in your garage. Great post. Thanks for the write up.

I hope you are right but both my cars are at 33K miles and any minute the values will pass in the night with no looking back. Way too many water pumpers have been built.

Logged on to RL after a very long time. Excellent story/post. I have 25K worry free miles on mine and hoping that the Mk II variant of the 997s are as reliable. No reason to doubt it though. Agree with Mark that they made way too many of these. So whether they will hold their value is highly doubtful.

Dan, thanks for posting. I have always enjoyed your posts. They have always been informative and unbiased posts. You really make this forum a great place! So get out there and put on some more miles so we can hear your 100k report

Dan: Nice summary. My 06 is about to turn 40,000 mi, most of which I put on since purchasing it in early 2010, so I look forward to many more miles of fun. These are amazingly robust cars.

My '09 C2S is about to turn 30,000 trouble free miles. No oil added between 5000 mile oil changes . I guess the only reason the milage is so low is that i have other cars that need driven also.

I'd like to also commend Edgy for actually DRIVING HIS CAR and not being worried about the miliage. Hello? I just put 1800 kms / 1250 miles over the last 45 days and someone commented about how I am decreasing the value of the car. I drive mine daily as Edgy does and it is GREAT. Rack 'em up. It is my option that these are not garage queens. Leave that status to the 356's and enjoy our rides.
P.s. And for all the other thread back and forth discussion of cab vs coupe, I've not driven it a day yet WITHOUT the top down. Love it. Obviously that is going to change with the upcoming winter but for the time being, what an AWESOME experience.

My 09 C2 Cab has 45,000 miles on it and I haven't had any issues. However, I truck kicked up a rock while I was driving on the highway and I now have a cracked windshield that I have to replace.
