Default Clear Bra

I am thinking about having a clear bra installed on my car. Any advice good or bad would be great. Dealer wants $925, Tint World $499. Worth the extra money at the dealer?
Thanks for your thoughts

I'd never do that but if I did it would be at the dealer......just my opinion!

Where are you located?

I would pay for a custom full coverage install. Two weeks ago I showed my car in a Concours (Full) and the judges didn't catch that I had a clear bra on the car until they saw the A-Pillar. The lines on the hood and fender weren't there, they were in the seams so they couldn't be seen. Not only does this make the install much less visible, it also makes cleaning and waxing significantly easier.

A custom install should cost about $1,300 but that depends on where you live, some areas are higher and some are lower.

Someone once said (here or somewhere else), you pay for the expertise of the technician and not the material. (I think this was related to a thread on the film pulling off the clear coat when removed.) You'll have to be the judge on the quality of the work - but remember that the dealer is not putting on the film, it's whoever they contract with. FWIW, I used a company that does mega, mega exotic cars (e.g. Veyron, Maserati MC12); paid more but was confident they'd do a great job - which they did.

Don't go cheap. Check out other cars and compare results. I have seen some terrible installations, some actually cut the paint below the film. Do your homework. Good luck.

Got mine at the dealer for about $850. Phenomenal install, as Tony Air stated don't go cheap. Verify the installer has the skills.

Most Porsche dealers know and use the best installers in their area. I would ask them for a referral.

Removing film will not pull up your paint. The only time I heard this happening is when film was installed on a re-paint job that was not prepped and cured properly.

I just had mine done through the dealer for $1,100. The installer did a great job (this is my 4th car to have a clear bras). He did the front bumper, 1/3 hood and front fenders, headlamps and driving lights, side mirrors and door handles, rocker panels and behind rear wheels, and the windshield trim.

As others have mentioned, when it comes to paint protection film (aka clearbra), go with the more experienced company in your area. They usually will cost more as most things in life do when it comes to quality. Be sure to look at the work in person as this is always an indication of what to expect on your own vehicle. Here is an example:

Exactly! Don't go cheap. The only bad part is the dealer will charge you as if they're doing the work and then take it to a local shop that does all their cars! I see it all the time here in Dallas. Just an FYI!!! Good Luck.

2 of my cars were done right next to a new Ferrari, Lambo and McClaren all from the dealer down the road! No idea what those guys paid, but I'm certain it was much more than me.....
