Default 2009 British Racing Green 997.2 ?

Posting for a friend who is looking to buy his first Porsche and he is looking for a manual transmission 997.2 in what looks to be British Racing Green.

Did a search on the Porsche site for pre-owned and certified http://www.porsche.com/usa/approvedu...arlocator/911/ and found 14 2009 997.2 for sale in green, but all are PDK.

Do not see the green offered in 2010.

Does anyone know if 2009 green only was available to PDK?

Friend really wants a manual.

Thanks

Color is actually Porsche Racing Green as it's metallic and BRG is not.

Anyway, PRG cars with PDK were launch cars in '09, so there are a lot of them around. There may be some with manuals, but many fewer than PDK.

Your car looks nice.
Thanks for the information on PRG and PDK launch.
Also makes sense that the color name for a German car not include “British"

British racing green was an "unlucky colour"......

They were called Dark Forest Green until 2008, but I think in 2009 they switched to Porsche Racing Green, which is a bit different.

If you stick to the tradition of Grand Prix Racing (aka Formula 1 now), British cars were green, German cars silver, French were blue, Italian Red and American white with blue stripe.

Hey Rob, the greens were launch cars. You could potentially find a 2010 and manual, but the odds are low. A customer would have had to spec it that way and PRG is rare.

I looked at two 09's while I was buying mine, both PRG. One was manual but a C4S, and the other (that I bought ) was a C2S with a PDK.

Is he REALLY sure he wants a green Porsche? I don't want to be raining on anyone's parade here but while I happen to like green (as well as most exotic colors out of Zuffenhausen) but it's going to be a bitch to sell later. My Porsche dealer many years ago used to call them, "theft proof green." He couldn't move a green Porsche for anything. My next Porsche could very well be a PTS Murano Green Panamera--but I don't buy these things to worry about resale!

(My first Porsche, a 1973 914, was Zambezi Green--which I loved!)

Yep. Agreed. These are not investments. They are pure enjoyment, as a nice meal, concert, or vacation is. They give us a mental reprieve from the day to day vanilla of life. Should we put a cost on that?

+100 on that! I've always wanted a dark green car, would have preferred the former shade of green but wanted the '09 and didn't want to do the paint to sample thing.

Don't plan on selling this car for many years and am not worried about resale value.

Dito. Sold my '09 Porsche Racing Green 997.2 C2 after 15 mos of driving bliss with the car and got a fair deal for a 997.2 C4S in meteor gray and loaded the way I would have wanted. Dealer eventually gave in and gave me a decent price but sales manager complained throughout the deal and afterwards on how hard it would be to sell my car. Funny thing is ended up selling it in about 2-3 weeks easy locally to I think a guy who bought it for his wife! LOL

You ONLY need one buyer who wants that car as I note above. Only problem will be finding one on re-sale but IF you can deal with that and plan on keeping the car then go for it! Few things I'd advise tho having owned that specific car:
1) Interior is sand beige and tends to get dirty quickly so if you are hard on interiors then think twice or detail it often with high quality products to maintain the look/finish
2) ALL 997.2 (2009) are C2S's and launch cars. All are PDK and ALL are outfitted the same way with SAT radio, Bose, NO NAV and non-PSE. I did add PSE to my car and eventually NAV but it cost me $$$ and probably was why my dealer was willing to give me more $$ than the average PRG 997.2 on trade. However they all were optioned that exact way so if you want NAV AND SAT radio for example it won't be possible. If you want a manual in the color..there's probably only ONE or TWO out there and that was cause as mentioned someone ordered the car that way. Being launch cars they are often out there and discounted heavily due to the color and options from Porsche. When I got mine in 2010 I think I got it for liike $20k off the $99k MSRP at the time...so they can be a great deal finanically. Just make sure that you know what you are getting into and are okay with the car and its uniqueness.
