Default Cleaning exhaust tips

What do you use to clean your exhaust tips (09 C4S non-PSE)? I am using Crappers Metal Polish which is just a generic metal polish I picked up at the grocery store. It helps but I think I need something with a bit more to it.

Are your tips polished? I used some 2000 grit sand paper and Stainless Steel Polish to improve the look of my lame stock tips. I have a 10" Grinder so I might buy a Stainless Steel Polishing wheel this winter and some rouge then sand and polish to a chrome finish.

I just recently started using a wadding cloth polish. I believe the name of it is Eagle Polishing.

It comes in a round silver tin and can be purchased anywhere. I believe I bought it at Target.

It does an outstanding job on the chromed exhaust tips.

I got tired of trying to keep those babies nice looking, so I "polished" mine with some ceramic coating.

I got tired as well and went the ceramic way--black hides a lot of nasty things!

I use an old sweat sock on my hand. Dip it in water and sprinkle some Bar Keeper's Friend on it and scrub. Works great. Just rinse the sock off and use it to wipe the tips clean.

Surprisingly the end pipes clean easily, specially if you clean them at every wash. Simple Green works just as well as fancier products.

Does it really matter? I just blow crap out those pipes the next drive, I kind of like the patina.

I wipe them down (TechArt twin tips on Tubi exhaust) and use stainless cleaner a few times a year, otherwise there's always a bit of evidence there.

I wipe mine after every drive, it takes about 30 seconds and they still look new.

Like Edgy, I took the matte black route. I have the cheap, "brushed" look single, roughly rectangular tips on my 05 non-S car. They got pretty ratty looking so I scuffed them up, used high temperature primer and high temperature matte black paint and did them in the garage. Maybe 30 mins total time (excluding dry time). Personal choice, of course. No polishing. This was done about 25K miles ago and they look like the day I did them. Total cost about $20.

As others have said, after every drive, quick wipe done deal.
