Your pricing is exceptionally low. I have seen real hack jobs on attempted Gundo hacks. If an expert custom muffler shop does the work and they can properly weld stainless steel bypass with proper welding materials, you are close to $300 - $350 installed. And that is using your mufflers.

You can get it cheaper but not stainless, not stainless welding materials and it looks like high school auto shop project. Make it easy on yourself and go to FD Motorports and get a quality product.

Give Darin at FD Motorsports a call. Mufflers on 997.1 and 997.2 are not the same but maybe their Fister modifcation works on 997.2 too.

Hers another Gundo experience on a 09 C2S. Asked around town at some motorsport shops for who was the best muffler welder. Got a recc and talked to the guy to get comfortable. He welded 304SS at 2.25 diameter (same as the pipes) and did a great job. Charged me $100 bucks. Did the removal and install myself (very, very easy, so a shop should not charge much; about 30mins labor max each way). Did buy a second set of muffler or such. Figure I'll worry about that if I resale.

Also, after trying multiple configurations including the full Fabspeed set up, landed on the Gundo+ fabspeed x-pipe combo. Sounds great, but not too pound (wife even said its ok). Under acceleration, really opens up 3500-5500rpm. Normal driving, you hear the engine, but not obnoxious. Also give some pop and grumble on decel.

My observations is this combo sounds raw compared to the full fabspeed or tubi, not as refined or exotic. Sounds a bit more similar to a Cup car, raw, which I like. The tone of both tubi and fabspeed are great, but I thought they was still too quite from the drivers seat for my taste. Of course, this is personal preference.

I'm having a new AWE exhaust + Crosspipes set installed on my '12 997.2S installed next Tuesday. I'll post a video with a sound clip once I get the chance. Eager to delete the factory hoover sound of the DFI engine....

Do all the aftermarket setups use the center muffler bypass pipes for the 997.2?
I'd like to incrementally improve the exhaust note but don't want a $4k Tubi.....yet for the 2010 C2S.
I'd like to try the Sharkwerks bypass first. If that's not enough, then change the mufflers. My 997.1 had a great exhaust note bone stock.....

Suncoast sell the Agency Power setup for $1350. Compared to other systems, this is very inexpensive. But, I don't see much discussion on it. Is it that bad?

On my 997.2 C2S, I installed the Sharkwerks center muffler replacement pipes. Sharkwerks pipes with stock side mufflers made the sound much more enjoyable. A month later I replaced the stock side mufflers with PSE and found "Exhaust Nirvana!"

A lower "total cost" option would be Sharkwerks center by-pass pipes and the Fister Motorsports (a.k.a. Gundo Hack) side muffler mods.

FD Motorsports has my side mufflers now. I already have the Sharkwerks primary muffler bypass, so as the previous post by Gota911 said, I'll know what the Fister/Sharkwerks combo sounds like soon. I'm in Delaware if anyone wants to come by hear it when it's finished. I should have it finished by the middle of the month.

Darin is doing me up a set of the ceramic coated chrome units. Hope to have them in about 7-10 days. I still have the stock look and feel that I want but a little more bling and aggressive sound. That chrome should look pretty sick behind the fat rear tires. I also spent and hour sanding and polishing my Stock Stainless Steel tips. Almost look chrome.

I installed PSE and then the AWE cross pipes (central muffler delete) on my 997.2
With PSE off the sound is now a bit more deep throated but not overly agressive or loud.
With PSE on it becomes a different story, really deep hair raising sound!

I understand that many here have much more $ to spend than I do on their cars.

But I love to modify my cars but I couldn't justify $4K for, I don't know, 7 hp or so. I'd say $1500 and some weight loss would be acceptable to an average consumer like me.

Am I missing something? are 911 exhaust system way more complicated than doing the same for other cars?

Do you have a 997.1 (2005 - 2008) or a 997.2 (2009 - 2012)?

If you have a 997.1, try the Gundo Hack (mod) on your side mufflers. FD Motorsport will do a muffler core swap for $350.

If you have a 997.2, then try:

• the Sharkwerks by pass pipes which replace the center muffler (about $700).
• after you get the Sharkwerks pipes, if the sound is not loud enough, then FD Motorsport the side muffler mod (about $350).

Let us know how it comes out.

After great deliberation and a few test drives I have decided to wait 2-3 years to get a 911. It really came down to the fact that if I can't pay cash for the car I want, then I just can't get it.

I was prepared to do just that when I thought I'd be happy w/ a 997.1. But after reading about the engine failures (I track my cars) and feeling the power boost of the 997.2 S, and also realizing that I love the wide *** on the 911, but really dislike the all wheel drive, I reached the conclusion that I'd ONLY be happy w/ a 997.2 GTS C2 manual, And I can't afford that car cash just yet. Hopefully in 2-3 years I'll be able to buy one at a price that I can afford.

To keep myself entertained in the meantime, I'm building a turbocharged V6 for my current car. In a mild state of tune (track safe) it will make around 425-450 rwhp which is exactly where I want to be.

So I'll continue to pop in over here because I enjoy learning, the community, and want to be prepared to pounce on the right car.

I have the sharkwerks bypass and added fister modded side pipes. I actually found it too loud without much low register so went back to just the sharkworks bypass. I am happy with it but will probably look for a way to enhance air intake sound. Fister does great work. I just did not fine the set up with my car that appealing sound wise.
