Default Getty Ducktail - A tale/tail in 12 photos

Recently purchased a Getty Design Sport Classic Ducktail for the 997. I know when I was looking around many other Rennlisters had questions & were looking too so thought I would put up some pictures & share my experience.

Once we (my Chief Designer...my 12 y/o son) decided on the Ducktail we liked, I contacted Getty Design. After some discussions back & forth with Mark at Getty; I pulled the trigger on the Sport Classic with the wiring service completed but not the primer service (at the request of my paint shop). Mark offered competitive pricing & had the spoiler shipped quickly. It took only 4 days for the spoiler to arrive in Alberta Canada from California USA!

The package arrived very safely & efficiently packed with the grills and brake light. My Chief Designer was very pleased.

We took the spoiler down to our body shop, the only shop in Calgary that is Porsche certified; Cosmos Collision. The owner of the bodyshop took progress pictures and sent them to me over the course of the work. He advised that the spoiler is very well made, had even 4 mm gaps around the perimeter and only needed minor work to exactly match the contours of my 997 & fill in some air holes. The only downside is how the grills are attached to the spoiler but that is small potatoes in my eyes. Here are some pictures of the spoiler from test fit to prep to fit after paint.

The wiring service allowed the car to recognize that the spoiler was fixed & retractable but I still got the fault message on the dash at activation speed of 120KMH (my co-pilot reached over and took the picture so no unsafe practices here!). I have recently bought a FoxWell NT530 and plugged that in & it took care of the problem....money well spent (and yes it does an over-rev report as I see many people asking about that on forums)

Dreaded Fault Light - but looks like a Ducktail!

Picture in holy lighting as it felt spiritual clearing the code without a dealer visit

In the end (see what I did there) I am beyond pleased with the Getty Design Ducktail & would recommend this company & product to anyone thinking about doing this.

Sweeps up beautifully!

Ohhh that rear end!

Looks terrific, great post. Do you see it in the rearview mirror while driving ? Just curious about that.

I actually think that would be awesome if you could see it in the rearview.

Just see a little bit of the top of it. The Duck certainly does not muffle the engine noise as much as the OE retractable spoiler...which I love as I can hear the engine more.

When my leaky reflector on the back of my C4S annoys me enough, this is exactly the direction I am going.

Question...when I look at the Getty website, I see either classic or sport, but I don’t see “Sport Classic”

Which did you install?

Ducktail Sport is the Sport Classic clone.
