Re:step 6, Why did you cut the new gasket? That's unclear to me.

Thanks for the great write up!

The gasket has two parts(one for WP and the other I suspect for the 996 thermostat housing) which are connect by three tabs... remember when we built model cars/planes and had to snip individual parts off the mold. Very similar here. Of course, I assumed the other gasket would fit my 997.1 but that's not the case. You need to order a separate thermostat housing gasket for the 997.1 specifically.

Fantastic Write up!! Thank you for taking the time to do the write up for all of us. As someone that does their own "basic" maintenance, these write-ups are invaluable.

Thanks. Glad to pay it forward... I have benefited from many a DIYs other members have posted. BTW, one more thing of note. If you open the Expansion Tank Cap another gallon of coolant will dump out so be prepared to have a total of 3.5 gallons of coolant on hand to fill back up if you do this. Again, the Airlift tools was great to test out my handy work for any leaks and easily refilled the system. I always burp the system afterwards but it really has not been necessary due to how well the Airlift tool fills up all the lines.

Default Word Doc and PDF Version

Spokane, Musclehedz101 create a word doc and I've create a PDF version. Both files are too large to upload on the forum so PM either of us with your email address if you'd like a copy.

Just one note... the wiring I referenced in the DIY are for the oxygen sensors. Two per side(one blk and one blue). Obviously very important that those wires are moved so that they are not stressed when the engine carrier bracket is moved.

Excellent work, thanks so much for taking the time to do this. I plan on tackling this in the next few months and will use your write-up as a guide.

Really great write up. I also watched the video. Good quality footage. Makes it look doable with a handful of simple tools and a floor jack. Love the cameo of the dog at the end!
