Honda Odyseey. Face it! It's time...there's no denying anymore...You want one...matter of fact...You need one!

Ok...just kiddin'...

On a serious note...this would be the easiest decision I would have to make if I were in your shoes...the 991 hands down! Are you familiar with all the complaints about the 991 being too comfortable? Well, the wider track, less tire noise, suspension, electric steering can give you that impression, which makes it perfect in your case. When driven in Normal mode,PDK in automatic can make long distances much more enjoyable. And the best part is,you can always put it in Sport Mode and enjoy it!
Don't get me wrong,the M BMWs are great cars,but they're no Porsche.

you mentioned the s4. brilliant car for the price and what it is intended to be. however, i have two kids (2 and 4-yo) and do not think the s4 can handle 3 kids in the back seat. to be clear, i speaking of the 2012 s4.

as to moving from the Pcar to a sedan. i'd keep the Pcar and get another less expensive sedan rather than trade in the 997 to get a bahn burner. i wish i would have done this, gotten into a 997 instead of the s4.

I had an e 39 M5 and loved it. And I very much liked the e60, especially the v10, but the SMG kept me from buying 1. Now were on to the New M5 which will be in the states in Aug/Sept. While i havent driven the new m5 i have driven the new m6, and 650 and I know exactly what you mean about the 650's persona. Frankly most cars are going in the direction, um kinda like a 991! The m6 was slighlty better, as it maintains the hydro steering vs the 650's electrical unit. But in the end I wanted more from this $120k car. So while we all know cars are becoming more like rolling computers, the new M5, according to the Euro guys on the m5 board, is pretty amazing. It sounds like its the best blend of what you need. You'll have to pay up for a Panny TT in order get get similar performance as the M5.

OR...

You could just say hell w/ it and get a cheaper 4dr and trade your 997 in on the upcoming GT3!!!

But my 2009 Carrera S is not the most practical car for my family (it has sport buckets and SPASM, it's very noisy). So i am thinking of trading to a new 911 S (more confortable, still 4 seats) or even thinking of a more daddy like M5 (i also like very much the Audi S4). Anyways, my question is if anybody here has experienced the new M5 and what are your thoughts on the car. I tried a new BMW 650 and i was disapointed: fast but heavy and very "digital". The engine feel effective and powerful, but with zero emotion. I am concerned that an M5 would feel faster but equally disconnected from the driver....

Thanks,

Fernando
I'd get one of these, CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake, if we could here in the US! Seriously I like wagons and would consider an E63 AMG wagon if I were you. Fact, E63 AMG wagon is the rarest Benz on offer in the US today, yes that includes the SLS & G!
OK so the M5 will be more engaging, especially with a manual, but heck I like oddball cars.

ROTFL! As if your 7 yr-old and 3,5 yr-olds give a toss how noisy your car is! Why not just say you simply want to buy a new car? Why the transparent subterfuge?

Disconnected precisely characterises the feeling I got whilst driving a 991 compared to my 997. If that's a concern, then you had best stifle your compulsion to trade. Every new generation of every car offers more and more computerised gadgetry that detracts from the visceral act of driving, and Porsche sadly is going right along with the trend.

But you'll need to set aside a considerable reserve for SMG issues. V10 is great - SMG very bad.

I have 3 kids too, and have a honda odyssey.

I want to get the 991 in the future. My wife said why don't I get the new M5.

I drove my brother E39 M5, fast but too soft.

Hmmm, I just don't think I can go back.

No offense intended, however, that is one of the ugliest vehicles I have ever laid my eyes on.

I have an F150 4-door and the 997. The truck holds 6-people comfortably and I can fill the back up with dirt bikes honey-due stuff. I'd take the truck over a van, wagon or SUV.

My bad... Must have been the late night beer talking. Sorry. But they are comparable, and one is a family sedan.

M5 is amazing.
