Default Popping/Creaking from rear window and roof

Hi guys, Ive been away for a while but have rejoined the fray. My 2011 C2 with 11k mls has been perfect mechanically and uses no oil However, it has developed an annoying popping noise from the roof and rear glass area that is apparently due to body flex. It occurs every morning when I back down my drive way and emerges sometimes over speed bumps. Sometimes it coms from rear window area in center and sometimes it occurs in other regions of the roof. I have searched this forum but don't find anything recently on point. Do any of you have this problem and if so what have you done about it? thanks, John

This is very common on the 997. My roof creeks a bit when I pull out of my garage and onto the street. The frame is very rigid and as a result, the roof will creek from time to time.

care to explain why you feel the "rigid frame (unibody, but whose asking)" causes a creak?

The driver's side rear quarter glass creaked on my 06 C2 and does the same on my 08 C2S. It's a feature

I have an '08 C2S in Austin as well . Must be a regional feature. Even had the p-dealer check it out when they replaced my TPMS sensor on one of the tires. Mine is more of a rumble... shows up most going over rougher roads and RR crossings.

Glad to know I am not alone. it is so much more noticeable within the last month. Heat? Glass seal breaks?

Good question, and you're right about no frame. I have owned three 997S, and all three have exhibited the creaking noise.

Creaking noise is from the sunroof seal. Lubricate it and its history. Your in the right place for a fix

Every time I go over a bump or railroad tracks even at speeds of 15-20mph it sounds as though I've got a stack of planks tied to the roof. So far I've had the dealership (thrice) and an independent (once) remove the entire sunroof, replace "broken plastic clips", the seal, and plaster the frame with strips of stick-on felt. No improvement. I'm beginning to suspect the only effective solution would be to weld or epoxy the sunroof permanently in place.

Perhaps sunroofs are not a strong point for Porsche.
