I have to stand up for Jersey as well. Lived there for over twenty-five years, went to school in Hoboken (before it got "gentrified"), and have since lived in Europe, the Gulf Coast, and now the West Coast. My wife's parents retired to Florida, so I've spent quite a bit of time there as well. You know what? I still think NJ is one of the nicest places to live, even with the winters and the cost of living. Just pick the right area, and you can enjoy life there as well or better than any of the other places I know. Like someone else said, I still miss the pizza, the bagels, the greenery of the countryside, the shore, and the people.

To the OP, sorry about your incident. Unfortunately, it could happen anywhere nowadays. Good luck with the fix.
