2006 with 18K miles on the clock. My DD is the Boxster with 67K... Whenever I get the urge the 997 gets driven on sunny days Saturday or Sunday. My 997 is a keeper regardless of my LOW miles!

Yeah, I'd say PCar964's comment is fairly loose.

I am on my second 997, which makes it my 3rd water cooled 911. ALL of our P-Cars have been like owning a Honda (except the 1st production yr. CTT).

The IMS/RMS issue is well documented and mostly overblown. Just google it. The PDK Tranny is the most sturdy Auto made to date, and yes there were Porsche IMS upgrades in the 06' models, and LN Engineering has retro-fits for others.

Our 997.1 has 45K miles and is just now off extended warranty. The jump to a 997.2 vs. my 997.1 figuring a $30k delta, to pick up PDK & DFI is not worth it to me.

Would I rather have a PDK, sure. But for now I'll keep the pillow stuffed with all those Benjamins.

Fine. I'll chime in, too!

53,000 miles and 25 track days on my 2009 Carrera. Only one warranty claim to replace windshield wiper motor. Would love to sell up to GT model but the car is faultless.

Ah, alright then. Whilst were at it, let's include Venice, Italy...arguably one of the most inclement cities wherein to drive a Porsche.

BTW my '05 just turned past 40,000. I bought it with 21K 3 years ago (5K/yr for PO) and put 19K on it since (6,3K/yr for me). Both the PO and myself drove it daily as our only car. Not every low-mileage car is a "garage queen". Some blokes' work keeps them fixed at one location, and they have a rather short commute from home. And some blokes have families they actually prefer to spend week-ends with than be out watching their mileometers rack up.

That said, I've another 5 years to my extended warranty and no plans to change cars.

Actually I was just answering his question. There's a high failure rate with these engines, the failure modes are mostly catastrophic requiring full engine replacement, which is expensive, and therefore any owner should be prepared for that eventuality. That's just rational, don't you think?

Other than the M97 engine design I wouldn't mind having a 997.1 as a daily driver, but there's no way I'm gambling with a $15k repair bill on a $35k car.

As for me supposedly "having fun" perpetuating internet rumors... I don't think LN Engineering's business is booming due to rumors. It's due to engine failures left and right.

I agree with pcar964. It's the reason why doing "homework" before buying is primordial.
Reached 110 000 Km on mine - then fully rebuilt the engine - replaced pistons, rings, bearings, cams, recoated the cylinders, valves, tensioners, pump and so on - installed supercharger at that occasion. I chose to go this way instead of selling the C2S for a TT. Probably because I like experimenting.

Hi 997C2S9ff,
Not to highjack this thread:
What brand LED front lights do you have?
Details, if you don't mind, please.
Where about in Poland are you?
Thanks!

Awesome my friend, thank you.
How do you like them, issues with moisture, fitment, quality of light?
Did you have to disable factory fog lights?
Thanks again.
I am from Szcecin
Take care,

That's a big win! Congrats to you.

I actually know of one 997.1 C2S (2006, I think) that has, (drum roll)... over 242,000 miles. Incredible. And, the engine is still strong, car looks great for the mileage and when the owner gets to 250k he's going to submit a photo and it's story to Porsche. Pretty cool.
