I drive 500 a week. I'm at my workplace at 6:21 AM. Turnpike all the way, highway speeds, no traffic. I get to leave at 4:45 PM... no traffic coming back, turnpike again. LOVE IT. This is in Miami, florida. best roads ever! It sucks to live near Venice.

I'm at 64,400+ miles on my 2007 Targa 4 and the car is stored 3-4 month during the winter.. I plan to go well over 100k. I'm a very happy camper..

I call bollocks. Venice-Miami is about 250 miles, so if as you say you make it in 1hr 36min, that means you're averaging almost 170mph. Next, unless you only work one day a week, it'd be more like 2500 miles per week. And lastly, why on earth would anyone take the turnpike which is clear across the state, when it's a straight shot down I-75????

I took it to mean he lives and works in Miami area and is happy with his daily commute because he doesn't need to go anywhere near Venice, which is a bitch to drive in.

^ exactly. I live in south miami and work in ft lauderdale (commercial blvd) it's exact 50 miles, 90% highway, 10% city. love the commute. average speed is around 80mph with some portions nice enough to strech your legs!

About to hit 63k miles on my car. Picked it up with 59k a couple months back and have been driving it every day since.

I still don't get the negative comment about Venice. Why do you assert that it "is a bitch to drive in"? The roads are wide and straight and the stoplights few and far between, that entire area (Venice, Port Charlotte, even Sarasota) is far less populated than Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, especially by New Yorkers who spent the first 75-80 years of their lives in NYC cultivating an attitude of entitlement whilst never owning an automobile. After driving in SE Florida, the Gulf Coast is a breath of fresh-air.

IOWs - who cares about how Joel feels about his commute? If he's happy, cool. If your happy driving around the Gulf Coast, double cool.
We're trying to find some high mileage 997s here. Rumor has it they are much more valuable than garage queens!

Hi Palmbeacher, I think that we are lost in internet translation.
I was referring to yemenmocha's post, where he put a picture of Venice, california, not florida. See the picture and my comment may make sense.
I haven't been to Venice, florida but I got my car from Tampa (Sarasota area) and yes, Tampa is a better drive than miami!
