911 (997.2 GTS) Wheel Setup

911 (997.2 GTS) Wheel Setup
I'm looking to get some recommendations regarding wheel setup for my 911 GTS (PCCB and Porsche Sport Suspension -20mm), I have two questions:
Question #1: Has anyone tried spacers on the GTS, I'm thinking 5-7mm spacers in front and 7-15mm spacers in the rear; will it improve track performance? Any down sides? Considering CL wheels, it's not like I can simply get longer wheel lugs; what needs to change to be able to accommodate spacers?
Current spyder wheels: Cast alloy 8.5J x 19 ET 56 front, 11J x 19 ET 51 rear (235x19x35 and 305x19x30).
Question #2: In the long term I'm looking into putting on OZ Challenge HTL CL wheels 18x9 ET47 and 18x12 ET48. The issue I see is that the front will provide 3mm more inner clearance and extend an extra 15mm. Rear will provide 10mm less inner clearance and extend an extra 16mm; do you think this would be a problem (fenders)? I would put in Toyo Proxes R888 245x40ZR18 (or 255/35ZR18) and 335x30ZR18. Or, is it better to stay with 8.5 front and 11 rear? These would essentially only extend 3mm front and rear.
RSS LCA's and rear toe links would follow; maybe also sway bars?
Note that the GTS is wide body.
Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks!

PM mdrums he has a set of OZ wheels and he drives a GTS and I think they are for sale. I take it you want to track your car. Center lock wheels cannot use spacers so you must get the correct offset. 9.0 f and 12.0 rears should be no problem.

I get nothing but compliments on the GT3RS wheels on my car, also for a wide body, but they are on the heavy side. If I were shopping for new, I would buy Fikse wheels. They are durable, repairable and light.

Thanks Skip. Great to hear the GT3RS wheels work; my concern is the front fender, as the GT3RS have a different track up front than a our standard 911 wide body. Do you have any photos to show how it looks? Thanks! P

I'm also looking for new wheels for my GTS w/ CenterLocks and going through similar calculations to make sure the ones I order are 15mm more aggressive in the rear, but no more than 5mm more aggressive in the front. I'm pretty sure the OZ wheels referenced above will stick out too much. I think the are made for RS cars with the RS wheel arch up front to give extra track width.
I saw a post elsewhere for some Agency Power CenterLocks for sale, but it shows fronts as 19x8.5, +39. That would push those fronts out 17 mm, and there is no way that would fit.
If you go with OEM widths of 8.5/11, I think the best offset ranges would be 49-56 front and 36-51 rear, with the larger offsets bei factory settings and the smaller being the most aggressive setup in relation to the wheel arch.

You CAN NOT use spacer with center lock wheels...heck there are none on the market.
2nd I have OZ 19" HLT Ultraleggra that I've been using for my track wheels...but I like them for the street too. There are slightly more offset than the stock center locks and fit perfectly and look great.
I am going to sell them now that I did my last track day till fall. I'll get them cleaned up this week and take some photo's.

They are available in et48 and et62.
For Fronts i'm looking at 19/9 et53 with 245/35 tires, so GT3rs tire sizes f&r
(I don't know exactly how to calculate this, but guessing parameters
gives me +8mm front and +13 et48 -1 et62, meaning that
the rear et48 would fit, but that i would need et54 or higher to
fit 245 fronts)
Will any of them fit? What are the offsets for the GT3RS wheels,
since they seem to work with 245f 325r?

Tirerack recommends 19x12 et48 Superforgiats for gt3rs rears,
and 19x9 et47 for fronts, thats 9mm more aggressive than stock gts rims and with 10mm wider tires, so I guess the tire edge is 14mm further out?
It seems factory GT3RS 19x9 wheels are et51, so if those fit the GTS,
Et 53 should work then? Would it even be possible to run et47 or are front arches wider on the GT3RS?
After staring a while at the front wheelarches of my car, I start to wonder what really limits a wider track. Is it just the legal problem
of wheels protruding from the car?
If the front wheel hits a bump in a corner and suspension travel exceeds the clearance between tire and arch, isn't it gonna rub regardless of tire width?
So shouldn't clearance generall be enough to handle this, and protrution matter little?

I'm locking in on for my recently acquired 2012 GTS 6 speed:
19 x 9 et 47
19 x 12 et 48
Anybody have experience with above sizes and offsets?
Would you guys go with stock 235/35/19 and 305/30/19 size tires or would you upsize? If so, what sizes?
thanks

The OZ Ultralegerra (UL) or Superforgiata (SF) wheels in OEM 997 GT2 RS size (9 & 12 X 19) and off sets (ET 47 F & ET 48 R) fit with no rubbing on even the most extreme curves and elevation changes.
My 997 GTS is PASM height, -10mm from Carrera, but my wheels were previously on a SPASM, -20 mm height 997 GTS with zero issues.
My wheels have MPS4S tires (245/35/19 and 325/30/19).
The front wheels have very little concavity and protrude about 1/4 to 1/2 inch out further than OEM 997 GT3 8.5 wide wheels. Only noticeable if you are really trying to see it and look straight down the side of the car in real good light.
They cure the shiitty off sets of the OEM forged (but heavy) Fuchs RS Spyder wheels.
A bonus, the OZ UL, while form flowed, are significantly lighter than either the 997 GT3 or GT2 OEM forged wheels.
If you spring for the Superforgiatas, they are even lighter- and still cost less than OEM wheels and are about twice the price of the ULs.
Let me know if you want some pics of the setup on PASM and SPASM 997 GTSs.
I have no affiliation with OZ and actually prefer the GT3 and 2 OEM wheel design- just don’t like the price and how heavy they are for it.

But there are possibly some suspension/axle mods that might effectively achieve the same thing: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-turb...ter-locks.html

Forgeline GS1R CL
19 x 9 / 47 ET
19 x 12 / 48 ET
I think this will work fine ... am I wrong?
I plan on putting in the Techart lowering springs (20 to 25 mm drop as I understand it) on my non sports pasm car and also plan on installing RSS adjustable rear links kit and RSS rear adjustable toe steer kit.
Thanks!

Those Forgeline (excellent wheel) are the same offset as OEM 997 GT2 RS, the OZ UL and SF also are available in that offset.
The 997 GT3RS OEM front wheels were 8.5" and had a different offset- they fit exactly flush in the front.
The 997 GT2 RS had front wheel well extensions (minimal) and also aero strakes attached just forward of the wells.
Ergo, the 9 X19 ET 47 protrude ever so slightly on a 997 GTS.
I believe you can get those Forgelines in any width/offset- so if you are total OCD about it, just order them in same width and offset of the GT3 RS.

Car has settled since this picture- but offsets are visible. Note the front wheel is a bit proud.

I can see the 325/30/19 size on one of the rear tires.
What is the tire size for the fronts?
Also, any comments on handling differences between stock and the wider rubber?
More stable due to wider track?
I think the fronts looks fine to me as far as offset but I think the TeckArt springs may be 5 mm lower than SPASM but I'm not 100% sure. If they are, I hope it doesn't rub.
Thanks!

Offsets are 50 up front and 46 on the rears. The front offset is perfect for me but I think the rears could stand another 2 or maybe 3mm further out. But I'm nit picking now. For all practical purposes all four wheels look flush with the fenders when you take a general look at the car. No rubbing even with the wider wheels and lower springs. There's a lot of room in those wheel wells, especially the rear ones.
Don't have great pictures of what you're asking about but have attached what I have.
