Suspension question

I apologize in advance for my stupid question.
I am looking at purchasing a 4S that has an aftermarket suspension and has been lowered and drives too harsh. I've been told that the car can be raised, so the question I have is whether the ride will improve significantly once it's been raised.

No. Unless it is so low that it is on the bump stops. You will still have the3 same springs and shocks. Maybe if the shock compression and rebound are adjustable.
Depending on the type of suspension you could probably swap the suspension with a Rennlister that is looking for a sport suspension.

I've obtained a bit more information. The car has KW clubsport coilovers. I looked them up on the KW website and it looks like they are adjustable, anyone have any experience with these, if set at the softest setting, would it be close to stock?

unknown. but it's not just the "setting". it could be prev owner installed stiffer-than-stock springs. in that case you cant really do anything but change out springs to get a softer ride.

KW3 Clubsport are very nice...
Worst case scenario, if you go to a PCA track event near you, pretty much any track rat running a 4S will offer you to swap his stock setup for your KW3's for the cost of the swap work...
I know I would...

I drove my friend's 996 Turbo with KW Coilovers which he didn't even know he had as he bought it used. It rides very nice and you could not tell it had after market suspension. Unfortunately, I was not able to take it to the track :-( but they were very complaint compared to my stock C4S. I suggest calling KW to get more information...the club sports are probably the stiffest, but I suspect you can get these adjusted to a softer or closer to stock setting...I agree, a lowered wide body looks amazing!

Try setting compression two clicks softer than kws recommended setting. Set rebound in front one click softer than kws recommended setting. Set rear at two clicks softer than recommended setting. Recommended settings are on kws web site in the "store" product detail pages.

For the ones that have lowered their 4S, was an alignment the only requirement? I have been told that lowering and getting the alignment set properly may require dog bones, etc. - any truth to that? I have been considering lowering, but not if it involves much more parts and labor costs.
