I agree. The politics in this country have gotten insane and I fear we're going to wake up some day soon and find ourselves in the same mess as countries like Greece. NZ is gorgeous, but Canada is closer. Both countries can call an election and have it finished within 5 weeks and move on. Much less partisan BS there.

OP: nice car. Enjoy it to the max.

Is your NZ license plate considered a "message plate" in NZ? In other words, did you have to special order it when you licensed the car with your motor vehicle department?

I had exhaust put on a few months ago... It sounded better, but still not quite what I was looking for...
Just added headers and 200 cell cats and it now sounds amazing!

Yes, Wanaka is in the south island. Thanks for the tip re the smaller wheels. Trouble is, the 19" look great and I've decided to put up with the rough surfaces for the sake of it looking so good!

Have fun with the car, the right car (C4) for the kind of road!

This link to some of my photos of where I live in NZ (central otago). I don't blame you for looking for an alternative to the USA. I know, wrong forum!

I was dead lucky with the license plate. There was a 1 in 999 chance that 911 was available in the CRW series (my initials) and the nice man at the motor vehicle dept secured them for me. typical New Zealander!

A bit off topic, but there has been a lot of talk at the workplace about settling down overseas...

Hot picks are
Ecuador
Panama
Thailand
Columbia
Malaysia

(If you want to bring your Porsche, forget Thailand - 300% tax on all imports even for thai citizens - BMW's start at 100k there...)

Beautiful car and beautiful country. Parts of it reminded me of really cold Hawai‘i. Had a great time driving a right hand drive manual transmission all over.

We were visitors to the south island last year. We loved the towns, scenery and friendly people. Beautiful car, beautiful place. Enjoy! I thought your roads were better or at least comparable to the crumbling patched roads of the USA. Speed limits were a little low there, but that never seems to stop anyone...
