Default LN Engineering Stainless Steel Mesh Filter

Do those of you with the knowledge/experience have an opinion about the LN engineering oil billet for the 997? I am soon out of CPO warranty, now DIY oil changes and am wondering about this item. I am told it filters down to 60 microns but it improves oil flow. I am considering coupling iot with a magnetic drain plug and changing every 5k or less. I understand that paper elements filter smaller amounts but do not provide as good an oil flow. I don't really track the car but routinely "drive it like I stole it". Am I being a sucker for the advertising or is this a good switch for soemone who wants to be more hands-on?

I picked up something like this several years ago for my RSA as a secondary filter. If it is the same the filter media is stainless mesh. The one for the RSA was larger.

It's pretty hard to beat a simple spin-on disposable oil filter used by the millions with rare (if any) failures. If you want something special, maybe get some regular oil filters and have them airbrushed to match your car's color. :-)

I'd recommend running a Napa Gold 1042 if you are running our spin on filter adapter, for street use. The billet filters are intended for track use only.

Charles, when i asked my mechanic about Napa filter he told me it is too small for a track use, what do you think of that? Is it OK to run Napa 1042 for track car on spin on adapter or is it still better to use oem original filter?

I've run the 1042 (and still do on my wife's 2010 Cayman S) for years on the track (with hundreds of track hours) without any issues. It's a good idea to change the filter after every event and top off the oil and then change the oil when you have at most 10 hours track time on it. I'm not a fan of long drain intervals.

The shorter Napa 1081 we no longer use and we started offering the billet filter, as it's part of our Accusump kit, to preserve ground clearance.

Thanks, Mr. Navarro. Given your credentials, I will take that as authority. In using the NAPA 1042, is it worthwhile to couple it with the Filtermag technology? Or is this just hype

Oh....I would respond to you "Fin Fever" but I was hoping to address both you AND the horse you rode in on.

The technology behind the filtermag is sound, it won't hurt to use it.
