Views on Fabspeed Max Flo Performance Mufflers
Thinking about creating a little more sound with my 2008 997.1 S.
There are a few options out there. Lots written about the Gundo Hack, the Fister mufflers (a nicely done Gundo Hack), and $$$$ Tubi.
What is the concenus of views regarding the Fabspeed Max Flo Performance mufflers? Would appreciate hearing your views.
Thanks. Mark

I have a set of Fabspeeds on my car. I never liked the way the stock mufflers looked. They are too big. All you see when you look in the rear wheel well is that huge muffler .My car is lowered so now you can't even tell there is a muffler in there at all. The Fabspeeds are much smaller, lighter, and when new shiny. The sound is pretty tame when driving at lower rpms. At higher rpms it is louder than stock, but not annoying. For a daily driver it might be ok. My car is a bit of a toy so if it's louder that's ok. If I had to do it again I would try a gundo hack. For me Fabspeeds are still to quiet. I bought mine used. At retail I would say no way. Get a used set. Check this out http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/a...e-muffler.html

The Fabspeeds are OK, in my opinion. Like Red said, the sound is a bit quiet. I prefer a louder and more aggressive exhaust. More sound can be had with high flow cats, but that might increase drone (and usually does from what I hear).

Although not just mufflers, we just installed this set up on a 997 S in our shop this week. I realize sound is very subjective and had discussed this with our client at length before he chose to got his route....
The sound is certainly more "sporty" and with an increase in volume. However, it is his wife's car, and she loves it too. Not too loud, but an improvement over stock.
The Fabspeed parts were a pleasure to install as everything fits perfect.

I have dual tone maxflo with primary bypass.(set on loud). The car is silent at idle and when cruising on the fwy under 3k rpm. Between 3k and 5k it has a glorious exotic note in any gear. Windows and top down it sounds great. Windows and top up you really don't hear much. So its a great system for a DD. Since you can or cannot draw attention to the car
Of course all this is on a 997.2s...so I'd imagine it would be a bit louder with 997.1.

I had the Max Flo Performance mufflers on my 993 minus the cat and they sounded awesome but were quieter with the cat. They made the most sound when the car was started and then just let you hear the engine.

I am considering the MaxFlo + X-Pipe. For the posters here with MaxFlo, do you have the X-Pipe? Have you heard a car with both? What's that like?
