Default Almost a Porsche owner again

Well, looks like I was able to come to terms re the car I recently posted about (see 'Dealer not willing to CPO car' post... ).

I have done a tremendous amount of due diligence over the past week... let me give you the details:
  • I have all the paperwork from original Porsche dealer (Rusnak in Pasadena) and had detailed discussions with service manager at Rusnak about the car... car was serviced meticulously... no issues
  • I spoke at length with the shop who did the paint work on the body... scratches on 3 panels; I have all invoices and absolutely impossible there was any damage other than just scratches... researched the shop and they have been in business for 30+ years and have been working with Porsche of Colorado Springs (a Premier dealership) for many, many years
  • I drove the car quite a bit and it drives excellent; I also visually inspected the car in detail for any flaws from the paint work, and did not find any issues
  • PPI will be done at European Performance Specialists in Colorado Springs, which was recommended to my by the President of the Porsche Alpine Region; PPI will include DME, and paint check

The specific car is being sold by Porsche of Colorado Springs; it is a 2007 997 S, with about 43k miles on it. Very nicely optioned:
  • Carrera 997 S - Midnight Blue Metallic
  • Stone grey leather seats
  • Turbo wheels - with 4 brand new Michelin Pilot tires
  • Sport Chrono Package
  • Bose Surround sound
  • Sport Shifter
  • Rear Center Console in Midnight Blue Metallic
  • Wheel spacers, 5mm
  • Seat Heating
  • Metal door sill model insignia
  • Stainless steel exhaust
  • Navigation for PCM
  • Six disc CD changer
  • Ipod connection

Price we negotiated is about $46.5k I have checked many recent Manheim prices and can't find (m)any cars for this price with this many options...

Yes, I would have preferred to buy a CPO'ed car (like my 996 was), but this car has all the options I want, color combi I want, and the price is very nice. Same car with CPO will easily set me back $4-10k more.

PPI will be done monday/tuesday... hopefully no bad surprises, so I can pick the car up on Friday.

Thanks for all your input.

PS what is part number for clear sidemarkers for a 997... first mod is to depumpkinize!

Sounds like a great car, and that is a very good price.

Sounds like you have done all your due diligence. You have most likely researched buying an aftermarket warranty as well as finding a good, reputable independent service shop for your 997 Porsche to give you good preventative maintenance as an option to a dealer. Welcome back.

Fidelity or EasyCare, But there goes your price point. Add a warranty in, and you might have saved 1000 over a CPO, but you will get a longer term with aftermarket.

What a great car! You are going to have a great time.

As far as aftermarket warranty,
I would ask what company the local Porsche dealer recommends for their non CPO cars.
What company the local independent shop has had success with.

Not sure I completely agree with your math... when I look at Porsche.com, the cheapest 2007S CPO'ed in the country with close to my miles (and nowhere close on options) is listed for $55k... median of all 2007 997s on Porsche .com is about $60k. Obviously that is asking price, so let's take 10% off and I have saved an easy $8500...

All things equal, I would have preferred to get a CPO, but after all the DD and the savings on price, I think I am coming out ahead quite nicely.
