From my brief look, the paints are of the same quality between a 997 and a 991. ANOTHER new paint facility? This must be another one because the one they built a few years ago was doing just fine on the Werk II side of the plant.

Added note: The new raised tail is visible from the cockpit (through the left mirror) when underway--something I think a lot of 997 owners would appreciate! (Visible--but just barely).

Big deal. Real 997 drivers figured this out a long time ago using duct tape and wire coat hangers.

the sun roof when "raised" looks targa-ish I would consider the delete option not frugal but purist

I hold my iphone up close to the headliner and take a picture out the back window if I want to verify the spoiler is deployed....

The new 991 is very sharp, however, there is way too much writing on the rear end with Porsche and the model designations.

They should have put tire pressure inflation levels, tire changing instructions, and stereo operating instructions back there as well.

It would be interesting to see better pics of that sun-roof and tail spoiler deployed fully.. looks like significant changes there.

Does the sunroof deploy up and rearward or does it slide back and under the glass (hence that back flap to 'get out of the way' while it retracts? Can you see anything out the back when the sunroof is open?

Those photos are all over. I've seen it in real life several times and here is what happens: Larger top roof plate which can be tilted up in the back, or opened, sitting above the rear part of the roof like a clam shell. It does not obstruct the rear window view.

I went to the "launch" party at PBH last week. I like the new car, I think it looks great in person and not significantly bigger than the 997.

hair dryer and some goo gone will clear up the over-scripting on the rear.

only other detail that I really didn't like was the sunroof design; it looks awkward and I imagine it makes a hell of a racket at "highway" speeds.

the interior is really nice, I'd rather have the lower console of older 911s but I think this one is well executed.

I configuered one on the Porshe website with the options I want and it is significantly more expensive than the one I bought in '05. Came out to 110K. As much as I like the new model I think I'll just keep mine a few more years as long as it stays mechanically sound.

Geez. Doesn't Porsche know we're in a recession?
