I just got the car back from 33500mile service. US$ 1300 for major service, and some plugs were replaced under my after-market full warranty. Service was excellent. However, I have another bill coming in a few days because my rear tires nned replacement. I have Yokohama Advans that came with the car, and I am replacing the rear for now. When fronts needs replacing, I most likely go with a set of Michelin PSS. My technical guy tells me that TPMS sensors also ill need replacement then.
Pls share your 30 - 40k service experience.

If the batteries in the TPMS go dead do they have to be replaced? Are they linked to something else that would drive you crazy if you just ignored them. Possibly an irritating bell or ding or flash? They were part of a package and I would have never ordered them if I had the choice.

Let you know it can't sync and a small warning light on the tach.

I don't believe you can chage out the batteries. You'll need new sensors. I you don't change them you'll get a warning light.

$1300 isn't bad at all. I was spending $1500/year on the 928. Of course I was catching up on a few years of missed maintenance and it had a much lower entry fee but you get the point.

I paid $1600 for major service and $1100 for 2 new front tires with full wheel alignment-2 separate occasions, within 2 months of each other. Got a nice Cayman S and a Boxster as free loaners for my trouble. Thrills and bills is correct.

On a positive note, my dealer replaced a misfiring sparkplug and did some work on the engine for $ 300. This was covered by my after market insurance Fidelity. I baught the latter for major breakdowns but if it covers these minor things as well, I would feel vindicated getting it.
