Default 997 Trivia Thread

Please feel free to contribute some of the most mundane, obscure, 997 info that only someone really **** would ever remember digging up in their user manual....

I'll start. IF you have the sports-chrono option, you can turn on your Daytime Running Lights (DRL) yourself via the main menu (individual memory, lighting) BUT you can only do it when either standing still or at no faster than 5 mph.

Not sure if this is sufficiently mundane, but - in the 997.2 with the 3.8L DFI engine, the oil filter canister is now on top of the engine and uses the same filter cartridge as the Cayenne. Also - the O-ring is no longer included with the filter and is a separate part number.

OK, my turn. On a 997.2 WITHOUT sports-chrono, you can turn on your Daytime Running Lights (DRL) with the lower left stalk.

And you can switch the DRLs ON/OFF at any speed.

For the 997.1 (at least mine anyway):

The B-pillars have coat hooks
Clocks on cars without NAV lose 1-2 minutes per week
The speaker grills squeak to let you know the music is too low
Your wiper stalk is probably still at the intermittent setting right now
The sunroof opens only part way on the first touch to minimize buffeting. Open it again for the full opening.
On the CD player, shuffle isn't random.
Once the cup holders are deployed, close the trim panel to prevent the cup holder arms from swinging around while driving.
The flat tire repair goo is most useful as ballast for the light front end.
The turn signals work, use them.
The PCM from 2006 does not properly read MP3 tags for tracks downloaded from Amazon. Except when it does.
On the PCM from 2006, the main audio screen shows MP3 tags, the audio tracks listing shows file names.

-Both the 997.1 and 997.2, cab and coupe are actually waterproof and do not melt in the rain. It is true!
-If you drive the car, it actually increases your enjoyment of ownership

Your wipers move faster as your speed increases in the rain.

turn off PSM on a wet day and you can review your entire life history as you spin towards a guardrail

Your 997.1_.2 actually makes drivers of BMWs, Subarus, Hondas, and VW GTIs (plus numerous other makes) drive recklessly fast when they spot you on the road.
It would be entertaining, if it were less dangerous.

But, this should never be actually tried at home.

After washing a 997.2, and you're ready to Windex the windshield by lifting up the wiper arms, DO NOT open the front trunk at the same time.
