Default Dectane Rear Light Install

I'm going to tackle the LED light install tonight. Is it a hex screwdriver needed to remove the lights? From reading other posts, it sounds like most people install the lights without the resistor packs and then if they have problems, they'll install the packs. Is this correct? My car is an 07 C2S.

It's the centre screw, which, IIRC, is a Phillips head. I installed the resistors and have not had any problems. From what I was told, it doesn't hurt to install them, so why not.

Okay I have them connected up. I did need the resistors. 2 last questions. I seem to remember someone talking about drains? Is there something i need to install or take a plug out? Also, how have people mounted the resistor? I assume in the taillight area with double sided tape?

If you want to transfer the rubber C's from the old lights to the new lights you can do so, but you'd have to heat it to get it to fit on the Dectane lights. Of course, you'd have to pull the caps off of the Dectanes first. They're not drains. They're meant to capture air and direct it into the light housing to get rid of any condensation. I used the stick tape that came on the resistor and I put stuck it to the fender inside of the light housing at the front-most location so it would be out of the way.

If you're not transferring the rubber C's, then you can leave the caps. If you transfer the C's, then, of course, you need to remove the plastic caps.

Ok, do these lights install perfectly? I'm trying to put them in but the edge sticks out? SHould it be flush? How hard do you have to push these in?

Yes, they install perfectly flush, just like the original ones. Slide them out and re-try. See this youtube video:
