H&R Springs - Install Labor - Question
I called Porsche of San Antonio Service to make an appointment for the install of my H&R springs and they gave a quote of 8+ hours. This really surprised me! Is this fairly accurate? Install with alignment is going to be well over $1K!
I had lowering springs installed on my E46 M3, then later KWv2 and the typical labor hours were 4-5 hours.
Anyone know of any good shops in San Antonio, TX to handle this? I moved here about a year ago from the Twin Cities and don't know the shops. I tried google and there are some independents (very few who specialize on Porsche watercooled) and I'd like to avoid a costly mistake.

8 hrs isn't out of the ordinary. I've seen install time range from 6-9 hrs.
Did your estimate include alignment? Alignment is critical to getting your car to behave correctly.
FYI, my lowering & alignment was 7hrs

I am guessing, like Tito_gsx said, it is likely due to the alignment. We charge 2.5 hr for a 4 wheel alignment here in Omaha; that leaves 5.5 hours for the install. I'd say just over 1 hour per spring isn't too bad.

I agree. 1 hour per spring is what I've been billed in the past. Alignments must be great money makers though. No matter what I stop by the dealer for, they always try to sell that alignment. I did it once with a new set of PS2's after being told it would double the life of the rear tires. Got the same old 9K miles out of that set as the previous and felt no improvement in handling, tracking or otherwise.

yes, $1k is about right. welcome to porsche prices.
just to drop off engine and put it back with no other work done = $6K. drop off gearbox = $1.2K.
it is very sensible thing to invest innto your own 2 post lift in the garage and learn how to work on the car.
