Default Porsche Scheduled Maintenance Plan? Oh Lord!

What the heck is this? Another scheme for Soccer moms driving Cayenne/Panamera to PRE-PAY for maintenance that may or may not happen in 3-4 years?!

Give your new Porsche the care it deserves with the Porsche Scheduled Maintenance Plan (PSMP). Enjoy the convenience of prepaying and rest easy knowing that your next scheduled service is covered.

I pre paid scheduled maintenance on another car dealership and the company went under and closed its doors. I was not able to recover any of my money. Never again.

As far as I can tell, they don't even offer A DISCOUNT if you pre-paid for ALL maintenance of the next 4 years! If it was cheaper, maybe I understand, but just to pre-pay now for something you may or may not do in the future is idiotic at best!

But I bet you can include it in the financing costs.

You can, but that makes it an even bigger loser. Then you get to pay finance charges on top of the ripoff cost of the service......

+1

I think this is primarily designed for non-enthusiast buyers with deep pockets who maybe buy a Porsche for GF, Wife and basically want to get the maintenance stuff out of the way and Porsche found a product for them to milk them even more than typical stealership charges (I got quoted $600 for oil change!).

Perhaps hedging against inflation and that the service rates may go up in the future? Still kind of retarded, but what does the dealership have to lose by offering it, some sucker will buy it.

You're right, they've got nothing to lose. The plan was offered to me when I bought my Cayenne by the "closer" guy at the dealership. Given the list of the services and the total amount of the plan, the pricing was outrageous. If inflation and service rates go up that much we're in big trouble. BTW, I just changed the oil in my Carrera for $70, and enjoyed doing it.

I'm betting Hellabuggin's response was sarcastic, PLEASE roll this into your financing!

Basically, it's just locking in current service rates. My dealer had a special that included a 3 yr plan when I bought my car, otherwise I would have passed on it.
