I have some new interior pieces to install, and wonder if anyone knows of any DIY tips for shift **** and boot, shift trim, radio surround trim, steering wheel and airbag for 2010 MT?
thanks for the tips. I have found everything I need except for tips regarding removal and installation of the radio surround trim.
Hope I don't screw it up!
I'm not sure how similar the 997.2 is to the 997.1 regarding "radio surround trim", but it is no small task to isolate the radio surround trim in a 997.1. The whole PCM module can be released (Edgy did a great writeup on this for a Dension or Mobridge install a few years ago) and removed in one piece, but separating the buttons and components from the surround trim is not easy. Why do you need to separate the surround trim?

I am replacing the surround trim.
I have standard beige interior. I am installing black shift ****/boot, black shift trim, black radio surround trim and black wheel. Black mats too. Up until your post it all sounded like a good idea to me.
Do you mean the upholstered pieces on either side of the center stack? If so, they are easy. Edgy's writeup describes those too. But just remove the retaining screws at back side closest to firewall (2 screws each), then push the bottom towards rear of car to rotate them (toward seats). Then gently pull them out. There are 3 or 4 retaining clips holding the front edge to the PCM stack. Just tug until they let go.

yes, those are the pieces I am talking about. Nervous. Going to start taking a stab at it today.
Don't be nervous. Those 2 panels are easy to remove, although the first time they can be a little stubborn to pull out. Just pull firmly towards you, straight out from normal position. Do a search here under "tooki", where you'll find Edgy's instructions that include the removal of those 2 panels. (He has a cab, so the Bose speaker in passenger footwell doesn't apply to your coupe.)
It sounds like you have what you need for the shifter and steering wheel removal, which aren't difficult but require some patience and finesse sometimes. Feel free to PM if any issues arise.
You were right. The trim pieces were very simple. In fact the radio surround was easier than the shift boot trim that attached to the top of the alumalook trim that circles the shift boot.
I think the airbag I bought is irregularly shaped. The old bag fits in the new wheel perfectly, and engages without any effort at all. The new one just will not fit properly.
I will send it back and ask them to look it over.
Thanks for your help!
