update, I got the switches from StickyNoMore (I actually know Robbie pretty well from another forum). I hope to do the install this weekend; will report back when I fix stuff 'til it's broken.

I have a 2005 997 with the same exact issue. The temp and fan control has very little coating left! What's it cost to refinish these, and do you have a picture of the end result.... Debating on just ordering a whole new climate control section but I'd rather just fix the controls

I have got the same problem on my fan switch. How much of a hassle is it to unassemble the part? Cost for the refinishing at sticky?

just to follow up/have some closure (I'm sure a few of you were losing sleep over this ), I had the switches swapped out last week. Since I'm a mechanical moron, and my dealer is a mile or so from my house, they did the repair for me. Sure, 2 hours of Pcar stealership service ain't cheap, but it's cheaper than me fixing stuff til it's broken.

anyway, the switches look great, thanks to Robbie and Sticky No More for providing a great product! highly recommended.

Default Repair sticky a/c swithes

There is a You Tube video on how to recoat using Plasti-Dip. However, switches are difficult to remove. I just masked them off. Then clean with alcohol. Spray some Plasti-Dip into a cup. Use a very small brush to paint switches. allow to dry and recoat again. After 24 hours, use a razor blade to trim any edges that overlapped tape.

Exactly what I did, using plasti-dip, and a fine brush from art supply store, and apply 3-4 coats matches perfect !
