Default A/C control *****

the control ***** for temp and fan speed on my 997 are starting to peel, particularly the fan speed for some reason (which is odd, I almost never use that control). see attached pic.

My OCD won't allow this to stand! so what are my options? Is there a source for replacement switches? If so, what's the part #? Is it a DIY project or do I have to send it out? etc etc.

thanks in advance!

it's your hand lotion that does it.

if you must lotion, then be sure to wear these when driving

Do your A/C control buttons have a rubberized coating on them are they a harder surface like painted plastic?

My 2010 has, what feels like and appears to be, a smooth painted top coat on the buttons, which is why I asked about the 997.1 buttons. Hopefully, Porsche switched to a coating that won't flake or peel off the 997.2 buttons.

My 2008 has a hard coating on those buttons. But any painted surface will be damaged by sun tan lotion, hand cream, etc.

Yes, it is the hand lotions, etc.

If you ever look at a car that a woman has been driving for awhile, all of the control buttons, switches are flaking off.

Some brands of sun block will do it as well. Happened to the leather on our NSX along the side where my arm would rest while driving to the golf course and my arms recently slathered with sun block.

It's not the lotion it is a poor design from Porsche one surface is non compliant with the surface. The engineers tried to achieve a good feel but fell short and forgot about about basic adhesion principals.

So, is there anything out there to fix this? Is there any type of paint that would match that color? I'm talking about the 997.1 version.

Unfortunately, you need to replace the entire system or paint. No other options... sorry. The unit is around $450-500.
