Default Plastic cowl trim fading

Looking for suggested product to best restore the black look to the plastic cowl trim between the hood and windshield. Mine is looking faded.

I use One Grand's Exterior Rubber and Vinyl on my plastic trim. After every wash, I apply this product. After a half dozen or so applications, the trim remains dark. Keep applying a few times throughout the year and your black trim will keep it's black appearance.

you can paint it, clean with wax and grease remover, wet sand with a scuff pad, paint with SEM trim paint or bumper coat (remove it to do all this)

Default Black Wow

Makes it look new and one application lasts a long time. You apply it before you wash the car, resulting in something that looks new without looking greasy. I've had success with it on all types of black trim including tires, but I favor something less expensive and less viscous for that. There is a pre-treatment product as well but I haven't tried it.

Not sure about the price of 997 cowl, but IIRC the 996 cowl was about $63. If I have to replace it every 3 years or so, no big deal.

Interesting approach. I'll check it out. Mine doesn't fit tight to the glass near the extremities anyway, so replacement would solve that too.

I use Griots Rubber and Vinyl Treatment. 303 Aerospace is also a good product. You should apply it to the cowl and the black trim around the windows, especially the trim at the bottom of the door windows.

Thanks for all the feedback. I picked up some Mother's "Back to Black" on the weekend and it cleaned it up like new. I also used it on all the plastic trim inside the trunk.

Mine was starting to fade a bit and I've been using Aerospace 330 on it and it's back to looking fantastic. It's great for all the plastic & rubber bits.

I use Back to Black on the Mini Cooper S lower trim all around - does a great job.

The Porsche black trim is fine for now. Black Wow is great stuff too - seen it in action.

I just replaced this piece of cowling on my Boxster. Not only was the color faded, but the piece warped as well, leaving a gap below the windshield right above the master cylinder. I was worried about excessive water getting to things that are normally protected to some degree, so I had the whole piece replaced. The part was $170, but there's a good bit of labor involved to get the cowling off (wiper arms, washer jets, etc.).

I thought it might be due to exposure to sunlight (Boxster spends more time in the Sun) but the same piece my Carrera is also starting to warp in exactly the same place but isn't fading.
