Thanks to all who responded. Lowering the car doesn't help tire life, I knew that but by some accounts here it sounds like the negative impact is greater than I thought. Btw....I ran both PS2's and RE050A's on the -06 C4S (also on H&R springs). No difference in terms of longevity between the brands but I think I usually got a little past 9K miles on each set on that car.

I just replaced my factory PZero rears 2 weeks ago at 6500 miles. The tire seem to wear in the middle, which to me indicated overinflated (I keep it at 41psi). I don't drive too aggressively, just occasional spirited cornering. The car is little over 2 years old so I don't think age had anything to do with it.

Got a pair of RE050A's now and seems to have a bit more road noise at certain speed (humming). Hopefully they will last longer than the Pirellis.

I have 13k and still ok. i'm a fairly aggressive street guy - no track days. My average fuel consumption is 16.1 MPG so i dont go too easy.

All OEM settings C2S SPASM.

That's about right...for me

Historically, with three M3's and one 997, my rears are always gone in 8k

It is accepted fact that the fronts will typically outlast the rear tires 2 to 1 & the wearout will be based on tire compound & type of use. But, your real issue seems to be the disproportionate wear of the inner part of the rear tires, which has been often reported in various posts. Some attribute it to negative camber or too much toe-in at the rear axle. Incorrect tire pressure could increase the problem. I had your exact issue which was abated when I retrofitted 17" wheels that naturally required narrower tires, convincing me that my inner tire wear issue was attributable to the degree of neg. camber. If & when I return to 18" tires, I'm going to have the rear neg. camber checked carefully & reduced to the conservative end of the factory spec. if necessary. You may want to investigate that aspect before replacing the rear tires --- we all know they're not cheap! Good luck.

@ 16500 on mine. About 2000 miles ago, the service folks said i should be able to get another 5000 with the same driving style which should put me at about 20K prior to changing out all four. Don't track (as yet), so I guess that helps

I am at 28k on the original set of RE050's. 3 DE days on them too. No belts yet, but soon.

That's outrageous. Probably a record though. Never even got that out of my fronts and I'm close to 60K miles in 997's now. It's been very consistent. Between 8K and 10K for the rears and roughly double that for the fronts. Almost afraid to ask but how would you describe your driving style between DE events?

20 K on the rears and 40 K on the fronts. PS2s.

Sandwedge, since you lowered you car you need to have some bump stop adjustable rear toe links installed. This will get your rear end back into proper geometry and with a proper alignment...especially rear toe you will be twice the life from your tires.

Gone through 2 sets of rear P zero rossos, pretty consistent, ~9000mi, RE050 giving about the same. I am in FL, maybe this is a factor. I am trying some none N rated tires, looks like they are lasting a little longer, we will see.

Florida has nothing to do with it...it's the alignment....a Porsche dealer will not give you a good alignment.

I can't say I drive it like a grandpa. I take corners under some power, but for the most part I drive it like any other car. Still, I can't believe that the reason you are getting a third of the mileage I do, lies strictly in your driving style.
I am not very educated in the car set up department, but it makes sense that this is your culprit.
I also noticed that most people with similar tire lives live in the south. I wonder if climate has anything to do with it too. Hotter temps=warmer tires, hence better grip, hence greater wear. In Canada, we only get two hot months a year (and not every year either), but for the most part, temps are in the 70s whenever I take the car out.
Combine car set up with driving style with # of DE days with ambient temps and I can see how one can cut a tire's life in half.

16,500 miles. Rears will need to be changed within 2,000 miles.
Pretty conservative driving.
