What did you do to your 997 today?

Installed the front intake screen guard. I did it the hard way by removing the bumper. Cleaned a whole bunch of crap out that was blocking the air flow, then install these grills from the inside before reassembling the bumper, Oh yeah, also flushed the radiator while the bumper was off. Now I'm protected and doesn't
have to worry being stranded in the boonies with a smashed radiator or AC condenser.

Since I removed the bumper, I can remove the center piece. They are clipped onto the bumper from the inside. Then I just trimmed the grill guards to size and tuck it inside. The grill guards once installed are quite rigid being held on the inside. One advantage of installing the screen guard from the inside is because it looks better and firmly held without worrying it popping out. The side ones have rubber trims to hold it in place and are held by zip ties from the inside as well.

Those mesh guards look nice and I do not know why Porsche didn't do it from the factory. This should have been standard for all 997.

I agree. As much hype in German over-engineering, they left the front-end unprotected since 911 first came out. It is so much easier to have it installed at Stuttgart instead of having us do the rework.

Calculate what length you want and don't forget the the rubber trim. I use the black hex grills.

Over the last few days I installed the Rennline phone mount (works great) and a set of their pedals. Installed some new OEM air filters. Had it tech inspected and a high temp brake flush for an upcoming HPDE in a couple weeks. I also had them check over the new to me 2007 C2S to see if it needed anything else - it got a clean bill of health Loving this car.

Replaced this little chingadera with a threaded unit from a Boxster. Easy enough... Less than an hour's work.
