Oh yeah... it was here in my hometown! Just a whole bunch of rich Asian kids, mostly with "NEW" drivers license (which gives them many restrictions), and some even without Canadian drivers license (just had a Chinese issues license), ALL between 18-21 years old with Ferraris, Lambo, AMG SLS, R8, Aston, Maserati, etc...
As much as I HATE cops and all the government efforts to just sqeeze money out of people for going 5MPH over speed limit, I dont mind such crack down on ppl who can BARELY drive a Prius, let alone 600HP of a car!

The comments on that page are interesting. Here is one: "Why are there so many comments about "deporting" them. 99% of Canada is p-ss poor. The only people who have any money are the foreigners. Canada is so socialist that if it wasn't for the foreigners and their money we would all be begging on the street. Anyone want any "free" health care ? Freezing -20 C weather, losers everywhere you look... We should count ourselves lucky to have people will to come here ! Money can buy you a mansion on any continent in the world."

There is some truth to Asians driving up cost of living in Vancouver by pulling money out of China, buying every piece of land they can get their hands on and creating a bubble. No 18-20yr old can just afford 100K+ car on their *income* in Canada... On the other hand, we don't have 14 Trillion dollars in debt, our currency hasn't been devalued to junk status by our Fed printing money hand over fist, and we still HAVE a middle class and not just a super rich vs. poor society!
and -20? Well, not here...Vancouver has been the #1 livable city over the last decade, and Toronto weather is almost identical to NY! So, that's just another ignorant comment on that site from someone who's got no clue.

Alexb is right. My Chinese friend, who has been living in Vancouver for 20+ years, has been saying the same thing for years. He was trying to get me to invest in property since the 90's. Its no secret where the pockets of money are in Van. Ask any real estate broker who's buying and where.
Rich parents, regardless of race or location, really do stupid things to show their "affection" like buying them 500+ hp cars. Might as well buy them a loaded gun.
If i was the judge over this case, i would: Impound the cars, suspend the DL's, make the kids do community service like picking up trash on the freeways!
I think driver's license laws need to be changed.
I've always been amazed that a 16 year old kid (in the US) w/ a brand new license can walk into a motorcycle shop and buy a 200hp superbike w/ the performance nearing that of an F1 race car.
