Great news!

May I be the first to welcome you back to Pcar ownership.

And quite a step up from your last P I might add.

Enjoy her Tim. You deserve this.

Since color choice and desired options are subjective, I am not looking for comments either way on the color, or on the options. Based on the car the way it is, do you think this is a fair price?

I would appreciate any and all comments regarding the price. Thanks!
Awesome Tim. I know you've been waiting and looking forward to this. Price sounds very fair to me but I'll admit I never did figure out how to micromanage price to the exact bottom dollar with all the variables involved. With your car, you wouldn't know it was used unless you looked at the dash. Me...I just scour autotrader, ebay and the dealerships to get an idea of what the car I'm looking for is priced at. Once I find what I like that's in the ballpark, I offer something below or at the low end of the range they're getting and I'm done. Maybe I could do better with another 6 months worth of shopping but maybe not. As long as I have the $$ I see these endless searches as self induced deprivation. Seat time in the car you long for is worth money too.

Thanks Jason!

I have been looking and tracking C2S and C4S cars since about a month after my '04 C2 "went away" (back to the leasing company). Over the last 3 years and 2 months I have selected and monitored 126 New and 303 Used cars. During that time I saw 110 New and 286 Used cars get sold. Pretty sick, huh?

However, all of that kept me abreast of changing prices relative to the current economic conditions. When the time was right, this info enabled me to make a solid "take it or leave it" offer that I knew was going to be fair for both sides.

I knew eventually that one of the cars marked "sold" on my spreadsheet wound be to me. It was just a matter of time.

That's amazing research! How were you able to learn the sales price of cars that eventually sold?

My original "guestimate" of the MSRP was between $98.5k and $99.5K, so your original post of near $100K was consistant with my number.

I think you were really close, but I didn't ask for the exact MSRP. I'll get it from the dealer in Huntsville. They sold the car to the original owner.

I was able to get only a handful of selling prices. Once a car dropped off their site, I would call the dealer and inquire about the car. Sometimes (very few) they offered the selling price but with most of them, I had to ask. Some told me the price, others did not. I called for pricing on about 20 or so cars and got prices on about half of them.

I found no consistent pattern for either $ or % below asking price, but it did give me a range. Remember that I was tracking this from the early stages of the economic down turn and beyond, so the market changed a lot in those 3 years. My main reason for doing this was to "keep in touch" with prices as the market changed, which I believe I was able to do.

I think that's a great price. I just paid about 5% less for a CPO'd 09 C2S with SC and PDK, but 2.5X the mileage. 1 model year newer, especially for only being a total of 1 model year old for $4k is not bad, especially if the color is one of your first choices.

Thanks for the reference point.

Carrara White, Meteor Gray and Ruby Red were my "1st tier" of colors, so this one fit in the upper tier.

Congrats, Tim; You deserve this. Enjoy, although it certainly will not have the cachet of a Honda......

I know, but all of the attention the Honda got everywhere I went was really disruptive and, quite frankly, embarrassing. From that regard, it will be nice to finally be able to drive a "low key" car that will blend in with its surroundings.

Bawhahahahah!

Steven, thanks very much!

Interesting, those are my choices, too. Haven't found any Ruby Red in a C2S though.

Ruby Red cars are pretty scarce. I found a couple of them but a while back, they were PDK cars and I wanted a manual. I was also looking at '08 and 09 cars. A couple of '08 cars had Black/Gray interior, one C2S and one C4S, but both had the manual seats. I need the full power seats.

Congratulations Tim. Considering what I paid for my 09 C2S last October I think you got a good deal. You got a one owner with low miles returned to the same selling dealer.
