Great tires. I have them on my 944 S2 and they're unquestionably better than the RE050A Pole Positions I had before. Equal to or better than the Pilot Sport PS2's on the 997. I can't compare them to the Pilot Super Sport though.

It's better and newer than RE050 and will replace it altogether at some point, BUT it's not N-rated... so your pick!

I've had a few set of the RE050's and and PS2's. I'd be interested in the S-04's but after driving the new Super Sports I'm going to stick with the baby's for a while on both my cars. The Michelin's seem a bit more planted and most of all they feel very predictable. The RE050's are sticky but the feel it terrible in my opinion.

Maybe my pressures are off and it is still is only 5-7 degrees C here, (41 -46 F) but I am finding the PSSs to ride a bit hard. It so tough to compare tires but it's just an impression. What pressures are you running?

I have the RE050's on my 2008 TT (CPO), which the dealer put on and I find them a lot noisier than the Michelin or Sumi's that I had on my prior 2004 C4S.

37 PSI up front and 44 PSI in back. Temps in Nashville have been about 75-85F so my tires are getting up to temperature and are very sticky. To be honest...I wouldn't even push my car unless the temps were above 60F. Let me know how you do when things warm up. I suspect that you'll like the tires in the summer.

It's interesting how Porsche's recommended tire pressures are dropping. For my GTS, lightly loaded, the recommendation now is 34/37. You can't really atrribute that to any change in the car, because any 997.2S is really going to be the same when it comes to the tires. Interesting...

I run mine at 34/37 or slightly higher, because i've put max neg camber into the front and matched it in rear (about -1 degree) and I'm trying to take a little pressure off the inside of the back tires. On the track is another story, where the cold pressures come down significantly to keep the hot pressures around 36/40. On the street, if my Pilot Super Sports are at 37/44 the car feels like it's running on rocks. I think those pressures are too high, at least for me.

Those tire pressures are too high. Lower them to 34/37. Or compromise a bit 35/39. You will see a remarkable difference in performance and comfort.

That's what the Porsche sticker say's to put in the tires. I'll try you're recommendation. Maybe the rear is 42 on the sticker.

The sticker on the car, IIRC, carries the maximum permissible tire pressures, which would be for a fully loaded car. The owner's manual shows a lower setting for a lightly loaded car. But my point was that those have dropped too. I had an '08 C2 and an '09 C2S and the recommended pressures were higher than on my '11 GTS - when all 3 cars are functionally similar.

Yes....I understood. I'll lower them to 34 and 37 PSI.

So, I put the S-04 on my rears and they are a very nice improvement in noise and smoothness over the RE050's.

Now, I've noticed something strange with them. First, the tire doesn't 'look' as wide from the rear. Secondly, when I removed the tires the first time, I was surprised when the inside of the rim hit the floor instead of the rubber lip. The tire is the same 295 as the RE050, but I suspect the S-04 is somehow narrower.

Anyone notice this?
