Whoa

Is that the "old hag with lipstick beyond her lips" look with the tail lights running into the spoiler and decklid?

Must be camo... they wouldn't do that.

The rendering under the video seems a bit Aston to me...

I like it.

The plate cut-out might be different. Sometimes the cut-outs in Europe are larger given the larger plate sizes.

The first video is cool but no one should look at the body of the car as the finished or even close to finished body of the 991. It is a pure test mule nothing more. The 991 is going to look terrific I do not believe Porsche will make a mistake with the 911 like they did with the 996 body. I have no worries about how good it will look and how nice it will be to drive.

BUT you still don't know like all others, so you cannot state "911 is going to look terrific", at least others comments is based on some data provided by the test mules!

There is amateur video floating around here of a finished car with nothing but tape over the lights and front fascia.

Alexb76,

So do you really think the 991 is not going to look good? Do you think Porsche is going to make a design error on it's best selling sports car? Personally I am positive Porsche is not going to do that. I think they are going to build upon the successful design of the 997 and take it some steps further.

I have looked at all sorts of pictures and videos and from what I have seen there are several possibilities and I do agree that some comments regarding the 991 are possible. For example it is very likely the new interior is going to have some of the Panamera design in it. Specially the center console.

What I was trying to convey is that I believe once the car is released in Frankfurt we will all like the new 991. There are always going to be things we might wish could be slightly different. I am not concerned about the 991 not being the 911 we want from Porsche.

Thanks,
James

The door handles is the 991 are the exact same ones found in the Cayenne and Panamera...

I also believe the 991 will look good. But if it will look better than the 997, or other 911s of the past (pick your favorite), remains to be seen and will also be subjective to many. I'll wait until the 991's Sept. debut to decide for myself.

While we hope Porsche will deliver in the looks department for the 991, there's the Panamera as one current data point that makes me wonder. I can't say I love the styling of the Panamera. No matter how great the Panamera is to drive, its looks are not for me. OTOH, I think the new Cayenne looks terrific.

Well, I hope not, but who knows? You dont know and at least from the pictures posted so far, it doesn't look that great... it looks more luxurious but not necessarily sporty or 911-like!

In terms of Porsche making design error... well, probably not but there are a lot of critieria in place to make them design the car, fuel efficiency, EPA regulation, new asian customers liking a softer more GT car, etc... For sure I HATE the new center console... look at the McLaren's center console or Ferrari's those look sporty to me, not the Commodore 64 console of 991!

I hope you're right but look what they did 1999 when they built on the successful design of the 993.

If you go back to the 997 launch, I bet the 996 owners were saying the same thing. These cars are a bit subjective and that's why Porsche has 20 (?) variants of the 997 now. For me-the more the merrier!
