Very bad analogy. He's talking about a new car. A 'Rembrandt' surface would have varying paint thickness. A new car should not.

It is in the OP's right to do his due diligence at this time, or he will pay the piper at resale time, as the future buyer will research paint thickness.

The OP demonstrates excellent 'grip' of the events.

The OP demonstrates an understanding of how ****-retentive car buyers and owners may operate, but we are not talking about collector cars here, but driven cars. Windows get replace due to chips, and dirt gets on the cars. Body panel repaints may be meaningful, but plastic bumper cover repaints are meaningless in my book.

I am just saying I bought a Porsche CPOed car that also had a clear carfax. When I went to go sell it. They did a paint depth check and the rear quarter panel had been repainted. I never knew but now the person holding the check to buy my car did. I got a swift kick in the nuts.
