I guess it depends. If you never sell the car, then all else being equal, you're better off with the lower price, regardless of model year. But if you DO plan to sell the car, you have to consider an average 8-10% difference in selling price based on model year alone. So if you can get last year's model for 8-10% LESS, assuming identical options and it's brand new, then that might be the way to go. But if the difference between 2011 and 2012 is only a few k, and the options are identical, and there's a chance you might want to sell it in the future, it doesn't make sense to to get a 2011. I was faced with a similar choice, and I ended up finding a 2012 at the same discount rate as a 2011 - for me, it was a no brainer.
Also the trade figure on my 07 is 60K but 5K comes from Porsche, so they are at 55K which is a tiny bit low in my mind.

Who says the $5k comes from Porsche? I've read this a few times in forums, but no one I've talked to affiliated with Porsche dealerships has confirmed this.
