Default I'm embarrased and cautionary tale

I recently posted about needing to purchase tyres for my sweeties, (chairman meow's), 997.2.

I was sticking my head under the rear every few days to keep an eye on progress. I knew the tread was getting a bit thin.
But when I pulled the wheels of the car to take them down to the tyre guy I found this. (see photo below).

Despite me looking for trouble, I never saw the corded area.
I guess without getting the tyre off the ground and spinning it to see the entire circumference, evil can lurk.

This was with a factory alignment @ 18K miles.

We ended up going with Bridgestone REO50s in 305 - 30 / 235 - 35 since they are an N1 tyre and she's still not sure if we will keep or return at end of lease.

Craig

I'll give you a good deal if you need a pair of used Michelin PS2's in 235-35 X 19 if you are local to me.

Perfect to use for DE / AX or use for another 5? - 8?K street miles.

$100.00

Lots of quick launches (heavy inside wear)... not so many high-g turns (light external wear).

BTW... the Bridgestones RE050A N1 are excellent.

check your lignment - what rear toe you got. with 0.10 toe in rear i have very little tire wear. but 18K miles on same tires is probably about right.

I'd be happy to get 18k on rears. I have about 14k on my RE050A Bridgestones and the rears are pretty worn (but no chord showing). I've liked the Bridgestones.

Do you have any photos of your front tires? I may be interested.

PS: I love that C4S in your avatar. Great color too.

+1. I got about 10k-11K on my original PZero rears. Fronts still look good. When it comes time to replace all 4 I'm going to try the new Michelins.

This is quite common on the 997. Particularly if you corner gently. A more aggressive driver balances more of that wear.

The problem with the 997 is that it is VERY hard to see the very inside of these rear tires, for this exact issue. It's a great warning to others to be on the lookout for this stuff! Thanks for posting.

I've told Chairman to drive more aggressively.................
Someone is going to get a GREAT car if she turns it in at the end of the lease this September.
