BTW Most journalists think the vanilla 997.2 is more enjoyable to drive than its second gen S sister.

Yes. Lighter, faster at handling limits and no slower anywhere else, no IMS/RMS, lower road tax (in Europe), less thirsty, miles better PCM, option of PDK, more comfortable ride. No brainer.

997.2 for the only reason of the durability of the new engine design. No IMS and hopefully a properly cooled and lubricated to prevent scored or oval'd cylinders.
Though the new engine is not proven it is better then having a engine that has been plagued with problems for 12 years.
They tried many times to use the old engine and turbo charge it, which ended up always blowing up. Correct me if I am wrong but the new engine has now made it into the 997.2 TT. That should account for its durability.

No ims is a big plus for the new engines, but will they have the same problems in the future as other DFI engines. (buildup). Who knows.
