Default Whats a fair price for a 2008 C2S Cab ?

I'm in search of a C2S cab and my local dealer has a 2008 with 35000 miles and its NOT CPO'd. The overall condition is good, not excellent. It has minor scratches here and there.

They want $66K for it which seems high to me. But it is a car they original leased and was returned to them, so they have the history on the car.

Thanks in advance...

Jeff

Need more info. Options, original MSRP...stuff like that.

Do NOT buy the car until you do a lot of reading on Rennlist first. Make sure you perform a PPI, including a DME scan and post results here on the ignitions in the 6 rev ranges (assume it's a manual trans) and operating hours. Also consider doing an oil filter dissection during the PPI. Don't do the PPI at the seller's location. You need an unbiased 3rd party.

If you decide to purchase, try to negotiate a CPO with the Porsche dealership selling, into your deal. This will increase the cost about $2K with little margin to the dealer.

I went to edmunds to see what options were available. It has the upgraded 19" wheels and it has Navi (which I assume is part of a larger package)

Jeff,

The 19" wheels were standard on the 997.1 "S" models and the Navigation was a "stand alone" option (a.k.a. not part of a "package").

About 2 years ago Porsche began offering "packages" for the 911, but I know of only three such packages; a Comfort Package, an Infotainment Package, and a "25 Years Porsche Exclusive" Package.

I think there's some room to negotiate there.

Thanks. I'm thinking 64ish is a fair number.

What is the button that would be right of the suspension switch ? I can't tell what the icon is ? The car doesn't have that but I was looking At another and it does but I don't know what it's called

Thanks

Ask the dealer for the option list on the car. Know what you're dealing with. There are lots of cars out there for sale. Don't get hung up on one car. Part of the process in buying these cars is educating yourself on the product. This forum is a good place for that. The hunt for the right car for you is part of the ownership experience. Happy hunting!

Service history is key since lessees may not spring for routine maintenance. +1 on the DME readout and oil filter dissection. Oil filter is a paper cartridge and easy to cut open.

Jeff, I'm not going to lecture you on negotiating skills, but if they are selling for $66 and you want to buy for $64ish, don't offer $64. Don't get hung up on this one car. Keep educating yourself.

No worries, I think you misunderstood, I'm just trying to figure out where I should stop negotiating...I offered them alot less.

But the used market is amazingly strong right now and these guys are not really willing to deal.

Default Value

If it is off-lease it is going to need tires ($1600) and a CPO is $2000 plus any other service needs. With that mileage the car is probably mid 50' at the auction. Add in fees and profit and the dealer would probably be at $56-58k or $60-62k certified. Low mileage cars seem to bring much higher values, especially in this strong used market.

When I was looking the dealers were asking the sun and moon for the cars, were not interested in taking any real discounts on the cars, and were selling the cars.

Comparable manheim values:

it really is crazy..now it explains why i sold my GT-R so quickly.

But there are very few worthy C2S cabs along the east coast. There are actually more C4S cabs.

I have had a Cayman S a few cars ago, so I'm familiar with the porsches and to me the only material options are PASM and sports chrono. Most others I can take it or leave it.

Thanks for the help guys.

Jeff, embrace the search. Have fun. Few people can go Porsche shopping. You are furtunate. Stay patient. The hunt sometimes is more rewarding than the kill.
