New Member - Picked up my Carrera! Now with Pics!
Hi All,
New to the forum.
Just bought my second Carrera, this time its a 997.2 Carrera 2 in Nordic Gold (PDK, Sports+, PSE, Bose, etc..). Previously I had a 997.1 Carrera S Cabriolet, definitely missing the drop top but really enjoying the new PDK. I'm very surprised at how different the new generation 997.2 is in comparison to the 997.1. So far these are the positives and negatives I have found in the short time I have had the car.
Positives:
- New PDK is awesome!
- PCM much more user friendly
- ipod connection integrates easily with the pcm
- Bose speaks much better then previous generation (however could be better)
- In non sport mode it drives VERY smoothly and can be driven like any other car on the road.
- PSE sounds great!
Negatives (really hard thinking of any negatives!)
- I know I mentioned as a positive the car drives very smoothly, I also understand that I bought the base model carrera and not the S. But I feel when the car is NOT in Sport Mode it is quite ordinary. The car wants to get to 7th gear as quick as possible and cruise. Again maybe not a negative but it can take the fun out of having a sports car.
- Having problems connecting my Blackberry with the bluetooth. My friends blackberry connected perfectly, so I think its just something wrong with my phone...
Overall massive leap from the 997.1 and really enjoying driving the car. Maybe next time I would opt for the cabriolet again.

Normal mode in PDK is lame. I never use that mode unless I am in bumper to bumper traffic. It has nothing to do with a non-S or S. Porsche optimized normal for gas mileage. I dont like it. Thats why SC is a must with PDK.
Blue tooth works perfectly with a BB. I had my BB for 1.5 years with my 997.2S and just replaced it with an Android phone. BB never had an issue. I have a minor irritation with the Android (when it loses charge and then it cant reconnect with PCM).

Pics please.
Regarding PDK, it will do that to 7th because it is maximizing fuel economy. You'll need to do sport or shift manually for that driving style somewhere in between fuel economy and ***** to the wall spirited driving.

ok ok.. here are the pics. My digital camera was playing up so you will have to do with my BB phone camera.
When I saw this color I just knew I had to have it! Some may disagree, it seems as though you either love it or hate it...
