Jr, has anything happened to your M96? how many hours you had on it?
Or is it just an 'upgrade' mod?

regards, Paul.

Paul not for my car. This is for a 997 Grand Am GS car that previously ran the 3.6 motor. They're now allowing 3.8 X51's so my friend and I thought we might give it a shot at Laguna in July....

My 3.4 is just fine thank you. She won 2 POC races this past weekend and even broke her own track record by 1/2 second. I was just along for the ride....

I'd contact Rick Deman at Deman Motorsports in NY. I believe he has a couple lying around...

I'm pretty sure that adds 50% to the price. But if it comes with enough stickers it might be worth it!

Very glad to hear, we really care about you, you know. I am very glad to hear your car is fine.

On the topic - let us know what the financial outcome will be if you`ll find x51 m97 anywhere, I saw some on Ebay but now it seems to be gone.

BTW, on the slightly different topic - have you ever exerienced issues with japanese gearboxes on 3-2 downshift? My car started to do something odd under medium-hard braking I am trying to downshift, heel&toe done properly but when I push into 2nd gear it feels like it presses against a solid wall, does not feel like a worn synchro but literally like i am trying to press into something solid. not sure what it is. does it mean i need solid engine mounts or is it a gearbox itself going south?

Yea the Gertag boxes are a POS though the997 versons are quite bit beefier than what I use. I would suggest changing the trans oil if that hasn't been done recently and see if that helps. Also make sure you're getting the clutch all the way down. I experienced something similar when I had my seat too far back and wasn't getting full engagement....

nope, sitting position was fine, i will need to pay extra attention on how deep clutch was but i am almost sure it was all the way down.
soooo, if it may be clutch related - can it be a pressure plate issue? I was getting some vibration on clutch pedal when depressed, and was told it _may_ be either bearing or a clutch plate itself. it is not cinsistent, i only get it when going at redline 3rd gear braking down to 35-40 something mph at 2nd gear. couple of times i got 4th gear in instead of 2nd as usually 2nd simpy 'slides in' but here it simply did not go. but it is not consistent.

I definitely agree it could be a clutch related issue but I'd still change the trans oil first. If you decided to R & R the clutch get the Sport package from Sachs which includes the PP, clutch, and TO bearing. It's relatively cheap around $350. IIRC....

yep, that`s the plan... I am still not sure if I want to put on LWFW or not, but clutch is long due, I just wait for current one to finally give up. will do it any way at the end of this season.
