just a couple of questions... have you owned the 911 long enough to know it’s the original IMS bearing still in there and if it’s a early production 05? Before March of 2005

thanks

From what I remember it was a 2004 car registered in 2005, so I think its an early car. I recall receiving a class action lawsuit details with a bunch on effected engine or chassis numbers and mine was included. Ive never actually worried about it, but its a huge issue to try sell the car, everyone, and I mean 100% ask about it and don't want to touch it because ive not had it done. Now, could it have been done? I don't know, I have some receipts on purchase but nothing says its been done....im the 5th owner at 4 yrs old and 39k. Ive always assumed its not been done as this would have been important to highlight. Im wondering how I could find out if its done as the next time my clutch needs changing I might do it, if only so I can sell it and buy another.

so you put 90k miles in 10 years or so. You’ve must of done the Cluch by now, I’m assuming. That would of been the time to check the bearing and if so replace it. If not, yes. Next time going in for Cluch And drop tranny mechanic will see which ones inside and replace if necessary.

These are great buys right now for the small budget seekers. Buy one for a great price, take it in Immediately drop the tranny and replace Bearing for $2500 or so ( no cluch ) and your good for another 100k miles... lol

2005 997 Carrera S 3.8, 42k miles, manual, no failure.

Just had IMS Solution installed and original bearing looked good. Also checked for bore-scoring and all was good.

Yes I realize this is the 997 forum.

2005 987.1 Boxster S, 70,000 miles, no IMS issue.

Engine Number M96/26 62.504389

I recently picked up a 2007 987 service manual for the car. According to Porsche Service Manual, the SMALLER IMS bearing was used up to engine 61.504715 on the M96/25 engine and up to 62.504094 on the M96/26 engine.
