IMS failure for your 997 car, Y or N? tell us (yr, 997.1, .2, m96, m97, failure mode)
#799
I have had around 15 cars with M96 or M97 engines, average mileage was around 100k miles. No issues with any of them. I replaced the IMS bearing in three 996's at over 100k miles, just to sell them. All of the old bearings came out in perfect condition.

I've owned 4 911's that use the IMS bearing. They have been the most reliable cars i have ever owned.
-2005 S launch edition i had with 35k on it when it got totaled no IMS failure.
-my new 2005 S with 78k on it now no IMS issues
-owned a 2002 996 drove to 65k then replaced IMS when it was time to do clutch just for peace of mind & since they were in there anyways.
-Owned another 2002 996 C4s with 70K miles never replaced IMS and no problems.

2006 997 C2 Cabriolet 84,000 miles. No issues.
Is there any way to tell whether I have the smaller or the larger bearing without performing surgery? The car was built in January, 2006.
