Hey Damon,

How's the feedback on S-04 so far? It's super new so not too many reviews yet... and is it gonna replace RE050 (as Bridgestone video claims)?

Thanks

Actually, they order from TireRack (Porsche of Hilton Head)

I just had a set installed today. So far all I can say about them is that they are a lot quieter than the old P Zeros which had gotten noisy as they wore out. Here are some pictures.

I had several sets of Bridgestone Pole Positions on my BMW, then several sets of PS and PS2 on BMW and Porsche. Can't wait to try the new Pilot Super Sports.

Is that a 305/30-19 tire of the rear? Also what size Wheel is on that rear?

Thanks for the pics

Yes the rear tires are 305/30-19 on 11.5J x 19 Carrera Sport wheels. The fronts are 235/35-19 on 8.5J x 19 wheels. The Pilot Super Sports from Tire Rack were $1,563 including shipping. I paid $402 for installation, balancing and 4 wheel alignment.

The next upgrade is going to be a set of Bilstein PSS10's.

Just had mine installed and took the "really long" way home (70 miles) to check them out on some back roads. Keeping in mind that they aren't broke in yet the grip felt comparable to the Michelin's they replaced. It may just be the "new tire effect" but the highway ride felt less harsh and was certainly quieter. My initial vote is thumbs up!

Have had mine on for about a week now. They seem much quiter than the Bridgestones they replaced and the PS2's before the stones. Don't forget the $70.00 rebate for those that ordered early.

would be nice to hear back a realistic review of how well those super sports handle heat and how they compare to generic r-comps like r888 or NT01.
i assume situation with having 285/35ZR18 as widest one in 18" will remain for whole season?

I can answer this.

Did a DE yesterday with the Pacific NW region PCA at Pacific Raceways in my '09 C2S. Was 37 degrees when I woke up and they were predicting showers throughout the day, so I left the brand new Pilot Super Sports (which had been put on a week ago to replace the original PS2s) on the car rather than mounting my track wheels with the R888s. When I got to the track it was actually pretty sunny and warmed up to the 50's, so I was second guessing my decision and had planned to zip home at lunch and change to the R888s. However, once on the track, I found very little difference between the PSSs and the R888s. There's probably a tiny amount more absolute grip in the Toyos, but the Michelins were amazingly close. I have also done a few days on the old PS2s, and to my recollection, the PSS is a substantially grippier tire. I am very happy with these, and won't hesitate to use them on the track on days where rain is present or possible.

Started at 28 front/30 rear psi cold, but they got up to about 37/40 at the end of the session. Dropped them about 5 psi each, and found they were stable at about 32/35 by the end of the rest of the sessions. Very neutral and progressive slip at those pressures. Did get a little greasy by the end of each run as the temps went up, but no more so than my R888s.

I just spent a relatively warm Friday driving around town just killing some time really. I've had PS2 on all of my last few cars and I'm feeling that these are quieter. They still have great grip in the dry but the specs say they will be even better in the wet which is what we get a lot of here in Vancouver. They also look beefier than the PS2's but it could be the huge curb protector running along the outside of the tire.

Anyway, after 100 miles or so, I'm pretty happy with the switch to Super Sports.

Just ordered my set today. To be mounted on my brand new Carrera Classic wheels sitting in the garage. Can't wait - will update with pics/review when I get them on!

You are spot on in your review.

I did my first DE with the PSS's last week and needed to adjust them to 33/36 hot...cooled down to about 29/32 during runs.

Nice grip but did get a little greasy at end of 25 minutes session.

I have nothing to compare them to except the my previous PS2's. But I thought they certainly did as well as them. If not a little better.
