I am not big on wood steering wheels. I prefer leather wrapped or standard foam. Wood accents are nice in luxury cars but for a sports cars, I will take real metal, leather or high quality plastics. To each , his own...

Not a fan of wood in a Porsche at all.
It doesn't look good and it's not practical...especially the steering wheel.
I think Porsche keeps it around for the old timers who clearly still like it.

Looks like you've fabbed up something in the storage area at the bottom of the PCM. Matched up to the factory leather quite nicely.
