Default 997 Service: dealer or Independent shop?

Whether you're still under factory warranty or not, please indicate where you go for service/maintenance that you do NOT do yourself. If you use both then please indicate in writing in a posted reply, or just select which one you use the most and/or for major service intervals. Thanks.

i'm out of warranty and only use dealer for track maintenance (oil, brake fluid) when i'm too lazy to do it myself. indy shop for all other and esp for any invasive work.

Under warranty, I go to the dealer for all Major and Minor Services. Out of warranty, I do it myself...

I sited my indy Porsche mechanic in a recent "what gives you peace of mind" survey that a friend of mine did for her job at All State. Sokul at Euro Motors is hugely competent, professional and honest.

I am out of warranty.

While the car is still under warranty I take it to the dealer. I figure it's cheap insurance -- much better to have a good relationship with the dealer if I ever did need to make a large warranty claim.

I do my own brakes and the occasional fluid change, even under warranty. For tires I use a tire shop.

Out of warranty and do both dealer (extended warranty repairs/brake flush) and indy (oil changes/tires).

Always the dealer and I'm under warranty....I had a really bad expwerience with a well known independent shop and once was more than enough. I love my Porsche mechanic and I ask for him and he does all my services....perfect!

+1 but oil changes I do myself. That does not leave much for the dealer on my annual visits. This year is 2 years which means brake fluid flush.

I do oil and brake fluid every couple months so it's a lot easier to keep that relationship strong even with the small stuff and even with doing it myself sometimes.

I should ask what they do at two years. Last year since I had changed the oil after break in they replaced the cabin filter which I doubt was really needed reset the service indicator and that was it. I have a motive so I could do the brake fluid myself.

I just had the 2 year service, oil change and brake fluid change, done last week at the dealer. My car is under warranty and I actually like the service dept. At porsche of buffalo. But when the warranty expire in couple years, I will do the basic maintenance myself.
